Overview
We are currently seeking a Cybersecurity Consultant who will be responsible for identifying, mitigating, remediating, and containing vulnerabilities and exploits. This person will work with the IT Manager to advance cybersecurity and effectively protect the OEB. They will lead vulnerability testing, review technologies to ensure compliance and secure configurations, support key cyber initiatives to strengthen defenses and ensure strong risk management.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic insight in creating effective security policies and protocols for the organization in alignment with existing standards.
- Lead aspects of planning, delivery, development, and execution of cybersecurity projects and initiatives affecting people, technology, and processes.
- Provide management and executives with strategic insights, data analysis, and recommendations.
- Provide advice and guidance to management and executives on technology advances, vulnerabilities, risk management and evolving industry cybersecurity standards.
- Perform vulnerability testing, devise mitigation and response strategies to present to management. Prioritizing and actioning as needed.
- Ensuring environment is following required protocols and configuration policies for compliance.
- Compile required evidence to support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry standard, providing sensitive and confidential information.
- Audit, analyze and report on user activity within the OEB infrastructure. This data will contain sensitive employee relations information and personally identifiable information related to fellow employees.
- Assist with confidential internal investigations through logging analysis, interpretation, and storytelling.
- Handling of sensitive information as it pertains to employee relations.
- Presentation of investigative findings at third party hearings.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity Information Management , or a related discipline.
- CISSP (Certified Information Security Systems Professional) or CISM designation preferred (or other relevant experience).
- 5 years’ experience in a similar role, including conducting research to identify best practices and industry standards, supporting server and network changes, and developing policy recommendations.
- Proven skills in influencing, building rapport and stakeholder relations.
- Highly organized, proactive, and self-directed with strong project management skills.
- Experience applying judgment and discretion when dealing with confidential, legal, and sensitive information.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong oral and written communication skills that cater to all levels of the organization and translate recommendations into a variety of written materials.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Teams.
- Proficient knowledge of cloud architecture, firewall, network systems architecture, disaster recovery, backups, authentication protocols, vulnerability testing.
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST, CIS, ISO 27000 series, GDPR, NERC.
