Job Summary:
Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Cyber Security,the Cyber Security Specialist will contribute to and influence the improvement of the organization’s cyber security posture by ensuring cybersecurity risks are understood, managed, and governed appropriately. This role works closely with IT and business teams to embed security into technology initiatives while supporting compliance, audits, and security awareness programs.
Responsibilities:

Provide security design reviews and risk input for projects, architectures, and system changes.

Maintain the cybersecurity risk register, ensuring risks are assessed, prioritized, and aligned to business impact.

Own and maintain IT & cybersecurity policies, standards, and control documentation.

Coordinate PCI DSS, ITGC, and audit activities, ensuring evidence quality and stakeholder readiness.

Validate the effectiveness of security controls using inputs from vulnerability management, incidents, and assessments.

Track control gaps and remediation commitments; escalate overdue or high-risk issues as needed.

Act as a security advisor to IT and business teams, balancing security requirements with operational realities.

Participate in incident response governance, tabletop exercises, and post-incident reviews.

Deliver executive-level security metrics focused on risk trends, control maturity, and exposure.

Lead awareness and training initiatives aligned to risk trends and organizational priorities.

Perform other related duties as assigned by the Sr. Manager, Cyber Security
Qualifications:
-
Post-secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Risk Management, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, IT risk, governance, compliance, or audit-related roles.

Working knowledge of cybersecurity risk management and control frameworks (e.g., NIST CSF, ISO 27001/27002, PCI DSS).

Ability to assess and communicate technology risks in clear, business-focused language.

Hands-on experience supporting audits (PCI DSS, ITGC, internal or external), including control testing, evidence coordination and issue remediation tracking.

Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills across technical and non-technical teams.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CRISC, or similar.

Experience working in a hybrid IT environment (cloud and on-prem).

Experience supporting security awareness or training programs.
