About The Work:
We are seeking a highly experienced Network Engineer to support and assist in the management of our growing network and firewall infrastructure. This hands -on role will focus on supporting and maintaining the operation of on-premises and cloud-based network and firewall systems, ensuring high performance, security, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with IT teams to integrate network solutions that meet organizational and client needs.
Configure and install network devices including:
- Services and hardware supporting routers, switches, firewall, access points
- Ensure proper implementation of vLan’s, subnets, IP’s, DNS, DHCP, VPN’s, IPSec, MPLS, WPA, and other network protocols used by the company.
Perform network maintenance and upgrades
- Including installation of Service Packs, Patching, Hot fixes, Security Configurations
Network Maintenance & Support including:
- Support network maintenance activities including applying patches, updates, and basic troubleshooting of network issues.
- Work closely with the Cloud Team Lead to monitor network performance and ensure minimal downtime.
- Provide Level 2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
Manage and support a highly available network of Palo Alto firewalls including:
- Physical and virtual appliances.
- Experienced in complex routing schemas
- Ensuring proper configuration, rule creation, and security policies are in place to protect the network from threats.
Manage network Security & Compliance:
- Implement and manage network security measures for Palo Alto firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity initiatives.
- Monitor security vulnerabilities, mitigate risks, and maintain updated documentation of security protocols, particularly focusing on firewall rule sets and security profiles.
- Implement security tools, policies, and procedures in coordination with the company’s Security team.
Conduct regular network assessments, performance tuning, and audits to identify areas for improvement.
Coordinate with external service providers for troubleshooting, upgrades, and resource procurement.
Create and maintain robust documentation of the company’s network and networking systems
Qualifications & Skills:
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Advanced certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Palo Alto certifications like PCNSE) are highly desirable.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in network design, implementation, and maintenance, including hybrid environments with cloud providers.
- Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS) as well as switching concepts.
- Experience with Cisco networking technologies (routing, switching, VoIP, security), Palo Alto firewalls, and cloud networking (AWS, Azure).
- Hands-on experience with routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP) and cybersecurity tools (e.g., Palo Alto firewalls, IPS, SIEM).
Technical Skills:
- Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model.
- Strong knowledge of VLANs, VPNs, network segmentation, and Palo Alto firewall administration.
- Understanding and practice of Change Control
Leadership & Soft Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently while driving team success.
- Experience in IT operations, Agile methodologies and IT service management practices.
