The Financial Crime & Regulatory Compliance practice is a global advisory business. We advise financial services clients in meeting their regulatory obligations, assessing, and mitigating financial crime risks and managing change within their FCC organizations. We have sub practices within the FC&RC business – Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Fraud, Governance Risk and Compliance and Markets Trade Compliance.
We provide expertise in governance, risk, compliance, and anti-money laundering, and we help to prevent terrorism, bribery, corruption and fraud.
The role
The Regulatory Intelligence Lead provides timely summaries of key regulatory events and activities with the potential to provide business development opportunities across the Davies Group. They also provide, upon request, regulatory information to support specific client proposals, presentations, etc.
The geographic scope includes countries across North America, Europe, the Middle East, South and East Asia, and Australia. The scope of regulation is financial services, including financial regulations as well as those covering “horizontal” areas such as privacy, cybersecurity/AI, and operational risk and resilience.
The incumbent will regularly review content on a proprietary third-party repository of which the Davies Group is a licensed user, applying search criteria based on the interests of Davies business lines. They will then summarize relevant content and post it on an internal SharePoint platform, assigning it to various business lines based on their needs and stated interests.
In a typical week, the incumbent will scan several hundred updates from financial regulators and key industry associations. They will then use their judgment, analytical skills, and knowledge of the business lines to prepare approximately 20-30 summaries.
Key responsibilities
In addition to the regular duties, the incumbent will be called upon to do the following:
- Provide weekly PowerPoint updates to management with information about recent activities and analysis of usage of the internal “RegIntel” SharePoint tool by service users
- Occasionally review recent regulatory events in selected jurisdictions, on request from senior staff, to support client proposals or presentations to industry conferences etc.
- Occasionally make presentations to groups of professional staff, e.g. through “lunch and learn” or similar sessions, to maintain awareness of the regulatory intelligence service and increase engagement
- Maintain and as required, update user-facing guides and internal process documentation
- When required, update lists of users and provide welcome to new users
- Regularly take a critical look at all aspects of the service and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and engagement
- Build/maintain relationships with the user community to ensure that the service remains relevant to their evolving needs. First line of user support for questions, concerns etc.
- Other responsibilities may be assigned from time to time
Experience required
- 5+ years of experience in one or more of a regulatory body, compliance department, regulated industry, or professional services firm with extensive exposure to regulation
- Successful experience in presenting to/ communicating with senior audiences in industry/ professional services/ government
- In-depth understanding of one or more of insurance, wealth management, banking, capital markets, insurance, and/or financial crime
- Extensive experience in building and maintaining relationships with internal and/or external clients, understanding and addressing their needs in a timely manner, and soliciting their views
- Familiarity with key regulatory themes such as operational resilience, cybersecurity/AI, and/or AML, will be an asset

- Superior analytical skills, with a strong ability to sift through large amounts of information to identify salient points
- Superior written communication skills, especially the ability to summarize material concisely and clearly
- Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment, to serve user groups with divergent industry and geographical interests
- Intellectual curiosity: There is a large combination of countries, regulators/industry organizations, and topics to follow. Expanding one’s knowledge enables greater efficiency and effectiveness.
- A continuous improvement mindset, always looking to improve on content, process, and technology, and encouraging users and colleagues to provide suggestions
- Solid working knowledge of key Microsoft applications, at minimum Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Knowledge of SharePoint and Forms will also be an asset.
