Who is a Senior IT Technical Specialist?
A Senior IT Technical specialist is an individual who handles the most complex, creative, and challenging solutions with clients. You put your best effort into growing your knowledge and help transfer it to others when they need a hand. You understand that you play an integral role in providing unparalleled service to our clients. You are naturally curious and know where to lean for support when you are personally out of answers.
You will work directly with both colleagues and customers in your capacity as an IT expert. You keep accurate and timely records by logging the details of your troubleshooting. You create and improve support documentation as needed. You work directly with the Manager, Operations to identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention, maintaining robust cybersecurity protocols.
In this senior level position, you put your best effort into consulting, architecting, and road-mapping to solve complex short- and long-term IT needs with varying levels of impact and urgency. You are happy to roll up your sleeves and dive in, taking ownership of problems and knowing when to ask for help. You care about your peers and offer technical consultation (coaching and mentoring). You take the time you need to document your work and communicate proactively with your clients and team. You are someone who can be trusted. You are honest and ethical. You are accountable and do what you say you will do.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Network design, implementation, analysis, and troubleshooting.
- System Administration and cloud architecture consultation, deployment, and maintenance.
- Supporting clients with expert level repair, maintenance, troubleshooting and implementation services, either onsite or remotely.
- Specific pre-project consulting on solution design. Specific project delivery in tandem with project leadership, client POC’s, and your technical team.
- Managing risks and protecting the use, processing, storage, and transmission of knowledge, information, and data (Security and Information Assurance (S&IA)).
- Implementing and managing security solutions to ensure the safety of clients' system and information.
- Examining the management controls within infrastructure and business applications (IT audits).
- Completing and scheduling ticket requests and managing daily time entries.
- Contributing to client business development, spotting new opportunities, and enhancing relationships.
- Service ticket resolution.
- On Site client support as needed.
- Provide on-call technical support and participate in on-call rotation - (including server maintenance and emergency response work and escalation)
- Work with the team to ensure stable operation, availability, reliability, and service ability of server and network infrastructure
- Analyze and resolve end user software programs and connectivity issues in a timely manner

- Demonstrate exceptional communication skills, both verbally and written
- Demonstrate ability to work within Azure. Enrollment in or completion of the Microsoft Azure Administrator is an asset. Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-4 years server experience. Minimum of 1-2 years working with Azure.
- Be customer centric, always striving for client service excellence.
- Be highly self-motivated with a keen attention to detail.
- Have expert level Microsoft server and workstation experience and be capable of troubleshooting multi-faceted technical challenges.
- Have strong cybersecurity knowledge and understanding of best practices.
- Demonstrate successful IT project leadership experience (lead the technical implementation of various sized IT projects, including server builds, IT infrastructure upgrades, and cloud migrations, just to name a few)
- Experience with configuring and managing network infrastructure including SonicWALL, Ubiquiti, and Fortinet devices.
- Have a bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrate ongoing learning and relevant certifications, such as MCSE, CompTIA (A+, Security+, and/or Network+), Microsoft Certified (MS-500, MS-700, MS-900, AZ-301, AZ-304, Azure Fundamentals, Enterprise Administrator Expert, Teams Administrator Associate), or CCNA.
- Working experience with line-of-business applications such as QuickBooks and Sage is an asset.
- Experience with backup solutions such as Altaro, Veeam, and Azure Backup.
