IT Systems Administrator & Cybersecurity Lead
Burnaby, BC
The Role:
Our IT Department is looking for an IT Systems Admin Cybersecurity Lead to join the Watson Gloves Family. This person will be responsible for ensuring IT systems are secure and compliant through patch management and detailed documentation, while also maintaining accurate inventory and managing the lifecycle of IT assets. Additionally, they will assist with project management for IT initiatives and provide Tier 2 user support to enhance operational efficiency. Reporting to Director of IT, this role is for you if you are analytical, have a high attention to detail, have strong communication skills, and a track record of delivering exceptional IT service!
YOUR core responsibilities:
IT Systems:
Ensure all software is up-to-date and compliant with licensing agreements. Plan and execute patch management strategies to keep systems secure.
Maintain detailed documentation of IT infrastructure, system configurations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Create and maintain a knowledge base for common IT issues to streamline troubleshooting and enhance user self-service capabilities.
Asset and Inventory Management:
Maintain an accurate inventory of IT assets, including software licenses, hardware, and network devices, to ensure efficient asset management.
Assist with managing the lifecycle of hardware (desktops, servers, network devices), ensuring timely upgrades and replacements.
Database Management:
Monitor and test regular database backups, performing health checks to ensure the integrity and availability of databases.
Develop and maintain stored procedures for database automation and maintenance tasks.
Project Management:
Assist with project management for critical IT projects using Monday.com, coordinating tasks and ensuring timely project completion.
Oversee the project lifecycles for IT-related initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals.
Collaborate with the IT Director on strategic planning and implementation of IT projects.
Help Desk and Tier 2 User Support:
Provide escalated technical support for issues related to hardware and computer systems for all local/remote users.
Assist users with hardware and software issues, including scanner, battery, and connectivity issues.
Set up/configure new workstations to specifications outlined by management.
Assist in hardware rollouts and refreshes, including laptops, desktops, MFPs, printers, access points, cell, and desk phones.
Develop training materials and conduct user training sessions to enhance user proficiency with IT tools and systems.
Website Backend Management:
Maintain and ensure web application accessibility, managing DNS and web server configurations.
Manage SSL certificates and maintain HTTPS configurations.
Collaborate with developers and hosting providers to deploy new web applications and troubleshoot any issues.
Manage domains, subdomains, and Cloudflare configurations, monitoring logs and addressing DNS/HTTPS issues.
Cloud Integration:
Cybersecurity Responsibilities:
Monitor alerts (PRTG, MS Defender, Darktrace) and respond to anomalies related to email and application security.
Run weekly password scans and ensure enforcement of the company’s password policies.
Assist in the deployment and follow-up learning of cybersecurity education programs, including phishing campaigns.
Edit and create monitoring alerts in PRTG.
Address virus and malware issues.
Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity:
Manage the company's disaster recovery plan by ensuring backups are functional and recovery protocols are in place for business continuity.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to create and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans, ensuring that critical business operations can recover quickly from disruptions.
What YOU BRING to Watson Gloves:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT support and management
Proficient in programming languages (e.g., Python) and familiar with scripting languages is a plus.
Experience supporting the Microsoft 365 suite of products, including SharePoint.
Familiar with cloud services (e.g., Azure, AWS), integration best practices and Microsoft Dynamics (GP, Business Central) deployment is preferred.
Relevant certifications in cybersecurity (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP) or other IT-related fields are a plus.
Proven experience in database management, including monitoring, backups, recovery, and performance optimization.
Verified experience in managing IT projects using project management tools (Monday.com)
Experience in running phishing campaigns, monitoring security alerts, and responding to incidents; strong understanding of cybersecurity principles.
Familiar with website backend management, including DNS management, SSL certificate maintenance, and web server configurations.
Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and cross-department collaboration.
Ability to create and maintain IT documentation and knowledge-based articles.
