Position Overview:
LawDepot.com is currently expanding and looking to recruit an experienced Network Systems Administrator in Edmonton, Alberta. Working with the Information Systems team, you will play a key role in advancing our cloud migration projects and enhancing system administration capabilities. This position focuses on providing top-tier support for hardware, software, and network systems, with an emphasis on managing Microsoft services and enhancing IT infrastructure. This is a full-time permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week with opportunities for a hybrid work schedule.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Drive improvements for a large-scale eCommerce infrastructure and enhance systems to support continued platform growth
- Research, design, develop, and execute our network migration to Microsoft cloud services, including Microsoft 365 and Azure environments
- Monitor server and infrastructure performance, proactively identify security threats and system bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize performance and security
- Drive system optimization through daily system monitoring, log analysis, and proactive issue identification
- Manage and enhance data backup systems, ensuring effective backup strategies with VEEAM
- Recommend and implement system security enhancements, manage Active Directory, and maintain accurate documentation
- Perform server patching and security updates, ensuring optimal procedures and setups
- Build and manage hardware and software for network systems, servers, and workstations
- Perform emergency troubleshooting in the event of a significant issue
- Handle advanced Tier 3 help desk tasks, manage escalated tickets and resolve complex cloud and network issues
- Support IT projects, including cloud migration and infrastructure upgrades
- Maintain and create detailed documentation for system setups and configurations, particularly in cloud environments
- Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergency support
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in IT Systems Administration, Network Engineering Technology, Network Administration, Systems Administration, or equivalent
- 5+ years of relevant IT experience in Network / System Administration, Help Desk, Desktop Support, or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience managing Microsoft 365 environments, with a focus on cloud-based identity and network administration
- Proficient in setting up, configuring, and maintaining Windows 11 workstations to ensure optimal performance, user experience, and security compliance
- Microsoft 365 Administrator certification is strongly preferred
- Advanced technical troubleshooting skills with experience in diagnosing and resolving system-related issues efficiently
- Expertise with Windows Server 2012/2016/2019 (Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, File Permissions, GPOs, IIS Support)
- Knowledge of VMWare ESXi environments with the ability to manage and optimize virtual infrastructure effectively
- Strong analytical skills in terms of creating, monitoring and maintaining security reports
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and their administration
- Knowledge of best practices in cybersecurity, including threat detection, incident response, and secure configuration
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create and maintain documentation that fosters knowledge sharing
- Experience with Forticlient, PRTG, AppDynamics, Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2019, PCI Compliance, PA Server, and Incapsula is an asset
