Director, Information Technology (IT)
Strides Toronto is a multi-service agency providing a wide range of exceptional programs and services that improve the mental, social and physical health of infants, children, and youth from the pre-natal stage to age 29 and their families. With a range of community, residential, and treatment services, Strides builds strength and resilience through equitable, accessible, client-driven services, system leadership, and advocacy. Strides provides individual, group and family interventions that include mental health counselling, autism services, education, outreach and referral, early intervention, day treatment and community support. In its Lead Agency role, Strides Toronto collaborates with 24 publicly funded infant, child and youth mental health (ICYMH) core service providers to design and implement system-level improvements that promote access, responsive service delivery and experience, and positive mental health outcomes for young people and families across Toronto’s diverse communities.

Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Services, the Director, IT will provide strategic IT leadership to the organization, the Lead Agency, and client-facing programs to deliver innovative, capable, reliable, and secure information and technology systems in support of Strides Toronto’s mission and operations. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining an information technology strategy and related initiatives in alignment with Strides Toronto’s organizational vision, mission, strategic plan, and objectives. This strategy will optimize client and user experience, enterprise resource planning, and business intelligence capabilities. The Director will also recruit, motivate, develop, and retain a highly engaged, customer-centric Information Technology team. Additionally, the Director is tasked with securely and effectively overseeing and managing a broad IT services, applications, and infrastructure portfolio that includes Strides systems, regional systems (e.g., the Business Intelligence Solution), and provincial systems (e.g., Provincial Virtual Walk-In). Continuous improvement of system performance, IT service delivery, project management, compliance, security, and value through IT best practices is also a key responsibility. Finally, the Director will play a strategic role by providing information and technology advice to other members of the management and senior management team, Board of Directors, and stakeholders across the organization to achieve Strides Toronto’s vision, strategic goals, and objectives, particularly during organizational amalgamations.
Qualifications
Among the qualifications being sought in candidates, the incoming leader must have a deep and abiding commitment to advancing reconciliation, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in all its forms and must believe, intrinsically, in the importance of leading with curiosity and welcoming ideas that can later be synthesized and turned into possibility. While all candidates are encouraged to apply and, in so doing, share how they see themselves adding value to the Strides environment, the following credentials and/or experiences are seen as possible markers of the candidates most likely to realize success in the role:
A) at least 10 years of progressive experience in technology, solution engineering, delivery, and/ or systems management;
B) a minimum of five years in an equivalent position including managing IT staff, budget, and vendor management;
C) demonstrated ability to align IT strategies, projects, and operations with business objectives including IT governance and capacity management acumen;
D) capacity and fluency in IT security, cyber-security, data privacy, and IT compliance principles;
E) knowledge of Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS), City of Toronto and United Way and other reporting requirements and specialized information policies for MOH and MCCSS;
F) senior leadership experience, with the ability to navigate the organization and interact with staff at all levels as well as the board of directors, and;
G) a university degree in Computer Science (or other degree with commensurate technology experience).
The expected salary range for this position is approximately $140,000 CAD per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
