Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and proactive Network Security Specialist to join our IT team. This role will be responsible for safeguarding the organization’s network, systems, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise environments from cyber threats, vulnerabilities, unauthorized access, and operational risks. The successful candidate will play a critical role in monitoring, securing, and strengthening our network and system infrastructure across head office, data center, cloud platforms, and retail store locations. This individual will focus on proactive threat detection, vulnerability remediation, incident response, access control, security hardening, and cybersecurity best practices while supporting business continuity and operational resilience.
This position requires on-site work at our Richmond Hill office with occasional off-hours support for security incidents, upgrades, patching, and emergency response.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor enterprise systems, network traffic, cloud infrastructure, and endpoints for suspicious activities, threats, and vulnerabilities
- Act as the primary technical resource for cybersecurity incidents, including investigation, containment, remediation, and recovery
- Monitor system, server, firewall, and network logs to identify suspicious activities, vulnerabilities, and security risks
- Develop, maintain, and improve incident response procedures, escalation protocols, and remediation processes
- Perform root cause analysis following cybersecurity incidents and recommend preventive actions
- Secure and maintain enterprise network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, routers, VLANs, VPNs, wireless networks, and internet-facing services
- Configure, monitor, and optimize network security controls across head office, retail stores, and cloud infrastructure
- Manage firewall rules, network segmentation, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), secure remote access, and access control policies
- Ensure secure configuration and hardening of Linux servers, virtualization platforms, and cloud-hosted environments
- Monitor and secure enterprise email systems, DNS, web servers, certificates, and authentication services
- Perform regular vulnerability scanning, risk assessments, penetration remediation, and security audits
- Identify infrastructure weaknesses and implement remediation plans to reduce cybersecurity risk
- Manage system patching, firmware updates, certificate renewals, and security configuration baselines
- Ensure secure configuration of servers, web services, databases, cloud workloads, and network equipment
- Implement and maintain access control policies, least-privilege principles, MFA, and identity security practices
- Support data protection initiatives, backup validation, disaster recovery planning, and ransomware prevention measures
- Ensure data integrity, system confidentiality, and security compliance across enterprise systems
- Develop and maintain security documentation, incident logs, system standards, policies, and technical procedures
- Participate in cybersecurity assessments, audits, compliance initiatives, and internal security reviews
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in network security, systems security, cybersecurity operations, or enterprise infrastructure security
- Strong hands-on experience with enterprise networking and security technologies
- Deep knowledge of Linux systems (e.g., CentOS, Ubuntu) from a security administration perspective
- Strong experience with Azure Cloud security, identity and access management, and Kubernetes security (AKS) is required
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking protocols, including DNS, HTTPS, LDAPS, SMTP, VPN, VLANs, and firewall configurations
- Hands-on experience with enterprise network equipment, switches, routers, and VLAN configuration (e.g., Cisco Meraki, Unifi)
- Experience with firewall administration, network security, vulnerability remediation, endpoint protection, and infrastructure monitoring
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, threat mitigation, system hardening, access control, and enterprise security best practices
- Experience securing web servers and infrastructure including Apache/Nginx, SSL/TLS certificates, and web application security
- Familiarity with virtualization environments such as VMware and Hypervisor platforms
- Knowledge of email security and Microsoft Exchange administration
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using Shell, Python, PowerShell, or similar languages
- Experience with certificate generation, renewal, and lifecycle management for enterprise systems and network devices
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and incident response skills
- Willingness to work off-hours when required for security incidents, upgrades, vulnerability remediation, and patching
