Role Description
We are looking for a motivated Junior Network Security Engineer to join our Network & Security Business Unit. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for a passionate professional who wants to build a career in network security, working alongside senior engineers on real-world enterprise infrastructure projects.
You will be exposed to leading security vendors — including Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, Cisco, and F5 — gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced, mentorship-driven environment.
Salary range CAD $60K - $80K
Occasional travel will be required to USA and across Canada
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of network security infrastructures under senior supervision.
- Assist in the configuration and monitoring of Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW) from leading vendors.
- Perform log analysis, basic incident response, and escalation of security events.
- Help manage network security policies and firewall rule sets.
- Assist in documentation of network topologies, security configurations, and change management processes.
- Participate in troubleshooting activities for network connectivity and security issues.
- Contribute to system hardening tasks and vulnerability remediation.
- Collaborate with the team to support enterprise clients and grow your technical knowledge.
Technical Requirements
Must-Have (Foundational Knowledge):
- Basic understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, subnetting.
- Familiarity with firewall concepts and security policy management.
- Understanding of VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL/TLS).
- Basic knowledge of at least one security vendor platform: Fortinet (FortiGate), Palo Alto Networks, Cisco (ASA/Firepower), or F5.
- Understanding of common security concepts: perimeter security, DMZ, NAT, access control lists.
Nice-to-Have (Advantageous)
- Hands-on lab or academic experience with Fortinet FortiGate or Palo Alto NGFW.
- Exposure to SASE or SD-WAN concepts.
- Basic scripting skills (Python, Bash) for automation tasks.
- Experience with network monitoring and log management tools.
- Familiarity with cloud networking concepts (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Education & Certifications
Degree (or current enrollment) in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
Preferred certifications (any of the following is a strong plus):
- Cisco: CCNA or CCNA Security
- Fortinet: NSE 1 / NSE 2 / NSE 3 (free Fortinet NSE training available online)
- Palo Alto: PCCSE or completion of Palo Alto Networks EDU courses
- CompTIA: Security+, Network+
- Any vendor-neutral cybersecurity certification (e.g., CEH, eJPT)
