Cybersecurity Analyst (Summer Student) – Web Application (Research Project)
Job Responsibilities:
- Participate in the Division’s Cybersecurity team
- Assist with the review and investigation of security reports
- Contribute to the response to incidents generated by the various security monitoring tools
- Participate in active security monitoring of the environment to detect, analyse, and limit intrusions and security events
- Participate in the creation of simulated phishing campaigns to identify risky users and contribute to user training and support
- Contribute to the Division-wide Cyber Security Awareness Training
- Research problems and provide details to the team
- Assist in reviewing and implementing changes/enhancements
- Provide a range of support for the team, including generating written material
- Participate in team meetings
Qualifications:
Completion of Cybersecurity coursework as part of a related diploma or degree
- Experience in web application scanning, vulnerability assessment, and penetration testing using tools such as Burp Suite, Nmap, ZAP, etc.
- Knowledge of web application security standards and frameworks, such as OWASP Top 10, PCI DSS, etc.
- Familiarity with web application development languages and technologies, such as HTML, CSS, C#, JavaScript, PHP, Python, etc.
- Understanding of the educational environment and its unique technical requirements
- Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good teamwork skills with the ability to work independently
- Good organizational and time management skills with the ability to work within timelines
