Summary of Responsibilities
The IT Manager is responsible for leading the implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies, to enhance automation, efficiency, and real-time analytics in production. He/she oversees the plant's IT infrastructure, ensuring system stability, security, and scalability, while managing data collection, storage, and analytics to drive predictive maintenance and optimize performance. Additionally, he/she ensures the seamless integration of ERP and MES systems, customizing them to support production goals and aligns IT solutions with business objectives.
The role also involves managing relationships with IT vendors, overseeing the IT team, and ensuring cybersecurity and compliance with corporate policies and regulations. The IT Manager controls the IT budget, evaluates the return on investment for new technologies, and collaborates with engineering and operations teams to support the plant's digital transformation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
IT Infrastructure Management
- Manage the overall IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, databases, and communication systems, ensuring their stability, security, and scalability.
- Ensure robust and reliable connectivity between production equipment and central IT systems, including industrial networks and cloud platforms.
- Oversee cybersecurity measures to protect plant operations from potential cyber threats, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and regulatory standards.
Digital Transformation and I4.0 Implementation
- Lead the deployment and integration of Industry 4.0 technologies, such as IoT, AI, machine learning, and robotics, into manufacturing processes.
- Oversee the automation of production lines through smart systems, predictive maintenance, and real-time analytics to optimize efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Coordinate the integration of smart sensors and devices for tracking and enhancing performance and quality control.
Data Management and Analytics
- Oversee data collection from production lines, equipment, and systems, ensuring proper storage, integrity, and accessibility of data.
- Implement advanced data analytics to drive decision-making, improve production performance, and support predictive maintenance.
- Coordinate with manufacturing teams to design and deliver dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights.
ERP and MES Systems Management
- Ensure the smooth operation and integration of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) within the plant.
- Support the customization and optimization of these systems to meet the plant's specific needs, such as inventory management, production scheduling, and quality assurance.
Collaboration with Engineering and Operations Teams
- Work closely with plant engineers, production managers, and maintenance teams to ensure IT solutions meet operational requirements.
- Act as the liaison between IT and other departments to ensure technology solutions align with overall business goals and drive productivity improvements.
Vendor and Supplier Management
- Manage relationships with external IT vendors, software providers, and equipment suppliers to ensure timely delivery of technology solutions and maintenance.
- Negotiate contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure high-quality IT services and support.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop an IT team responsible for maintaining and upgrading plant IT systems.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring that the team is well-versed in new technologies and trends relevant to manufacturing and I4.0.
Compliance and Security
- Ensure compliance with all corporate IT policies, data protection laws, and industry regulations (such as ISO, NIST, and GDPR).
- Implement robust security measures to protect sensitive operational data and safeguard manufacturing systems from breaches.
Cost Control and Budget Management
- Manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective deployment of technology and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
- Evaluate the ROI of new technology investments and prioritize spending based on business impact.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred. A master’s degree in IT management, business administration (MBA), or a specialized certification in Industry 4.0 is a significant advantage.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in IT management, ideally within a manufacturing environment. Experience in handling Industry 4.0 technologies such as IoT, robotics, AI, and data analytics is highly valuable.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in managing IT infrastructure, ERP systems, and MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems). Knowledge of Epicor CMS is an advantage. Familiarity with industrial networks and cybersecurity is required.
- Project Management Skills: Experience in leading IT projects, budgeting, and vendor management. Certification in project management (such as PMP or PRINCE2) is preferred.
- Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership abilities to manage IT teams and cross-functional collaboration with engineering, production, materials teams. Effective communication skills are key for liaising between departments and aligning technology solutions with business goals.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications, such as CompTIA, CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), or certifications related to cloud computing, industrial automation, or cybersecurity are preferred.
Work Environment
- The work environment is primarily office and includes manufacturing plant.
- The individual must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings, and with team members, management, customers and suppliers.
