Position: Cybersecurity Architect
Location: Toronto
Job Type: 12 month contract + possibility of extension
Schedule: Hybrid, 2 days onsite
We are searching for a Cybersecurity Architect with experience leading and promoting the Enterprise Architecture process within an organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage security architecture resources (e.g., models, templates, standards, and procedures) for use in projects and operations.
- Uphold and implement leading architectural standards, policies, and procedures, securing approval from IT leadership.
- Lead technical Proof of Concepts (PoCs) for Cybersecurity technologies.
- Oversee and audit IT project execution to ensure compliance with technical governance standards, tracking exceptions as needed.
- Spearhead discussions on new cybersecurity architecture, design, and modernization efforts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, business units, and vendors for end-to-end problem resolution and root cause analysis.
- Assist the Cybersecurity Operations team with incident and problem management.
- Communicate complex technical issues clearly, both orally and in writing, to diverse stakeholders.
- Ensure security policies and principles are applied consistently across environments and, where relevant, partner relationships.
- Assess and recommend improvements to existing security measures from an enterprise architecture standpoint.
- Support the IT Asset Management model for cybersecurity assets, focusing on lifecycle management and alignment with corporate goals to improve system reliability, service quality, cost, and security.
- Qualifications:
- 5 to 10 years of experience in Cybersecurity Enterprise Architecture.
- 5 years of experience in developing reference documents, including security architectures, policies, standards, directives, and guidelines.
- 5 years of experience in recommending, reviewing, and approving security designs, as well as conducting security risk analysis.
Expertise in:
- Enterprise security architecture and risk management frameworks.
- Cybersecurity standards such as NIST 800-53, ISO 27001/27002, and SOC 2.
- Cybersecurity concepts, including Identity and Access Management, Vulnerability and Threat Management, Zero Trust, and Data Loss Prevention.
- Tools and techniques for securing cloud-based workloads.
- Familiarity with utility-specific operational systems (e.g., SCADA, ADMS, AMI is a plus).
- Experience designing solutions for emerging technologies such as Battery Storage, Energy Storage, Charging Stations, and related protocols and standards.
- Experience supporting system implementations for both operational and strategic cybersecurity initiatives.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, techniques, technologies, and controls.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- In-depth knowledge of security-enabling technologies throughout the development lifecycle.
- Expertise with cloud platforms, including Azure and AWS.
