Job Purpose
Network Engineer will be responsible for network infrastructure discovery, design, implementation, and handoff to operations for network build projects. Also responsible for working and communicating with project managers on project status and timelines
Essential Functions
- 15% - Network Discovery
- 40% - Network Implementation and handover to Operational Support
- 30% - Update/Author Documentation of implemented solutions
- ITIL related activities (change, incident, problem management, CMDB)
- 15% - Work with project managers for tasks/updates related to project activities
Experience
- 8 to 10 years of experience
- Design/implementation/troubleshooting/support of routers, switching, firewalls within a large or enterprise network environment
Education
- Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
Certifications, Accreditations, Licenses
- CCNP and CCDP, CCIE Written or CCIE
Special Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Cisco switching (6500, 4500, 3750/3560)
- Nexus 7k / 5k /2k experience highly preferred
- Cisco routing (ASR, 7200, ISR G2)
- Network IPS / IDS is a bonus-Cisco FirePower Threat defense
- Cisco ASA Firewalls /Cisco FTD/ F5 LTM /APM /ASM Cisco WAAS is a bonus.
- Experience working with Azure Cloud services including Vnets,NSG,Load Balancer, Azure Firewall and Azure Express route.
- Experience in using InfoBlox.
- Experience with the implementation and support of Network Access Control and Cisco ISE.
- Experience managing cisco wireless controllers .
- Good Understanding of Cisco ACI environment.
- Understanding enterprise change control processes as well as ITIL methodologies
- Experience using network analysis, management, and performance monitoring tools to plan for growth, diagnose problems, and determining traffic patterns.
- Planning implementations, building comprehensive test plans, troubleshooting methodologies, and Cisco design framework.
- Initiative and willingness to learn are keys to success in this position.
- Expert knowledge of TCP/IP v4
- VLANs, PVLANs, Layer 3 switching, ACL's, Spanning Tree (MST / PVST), CatOS / IOS / NX-OS
- Cisco Nexus vPC, VDC, FabricPath, FEX technologies.
- Working knowledge of WAN and DMZ technologies.
- Complete understanding of EIGRP / BGP / OSPF and managing routing in an enterprise environment.
- High-level switching/routing troubleshooting skills.
- Working knowledge of network and server bandwidth management technologies.
- Expert knowledge of the configuration and maintenance of routers, switches, firewalls.
- Expert knowledge of OCx, Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet / 10Gb Ethernet, and other bandwidth link specifications.
- Preferable expert knowledge of infrastructure cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, MM / SM / OM3 fiber) and corresponding transceivers (SFPs, GBICs, etc.).
- Special consideration is given to the ability to script and use automation to perform tasks.
Supervisory Responsibilities
No direct supervisory responsibility but may lead work teams (assigns, coordinates, and checks work) for employees performing similar work
