ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
The Cybersecurity and Network Administrator ensures the confidentiality, availability and integrity of Ontario Northland’s IT environment. Working with a variety of systems and environments, they manage risk by leveraging existing controls and capabilities, and by identifying gaps. As a member of the Cybersecurity and Network team, you will monitor, maintain, and deploy controls to safeguard Ontario Northland’s IT environments, produce and validate evidence of systems connectivity and security through analysis and creation of policies, procedures, and documents.
MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor network to ensure optimal security and performance
- Assist in network/security designs and implementation
- Assist in the development of security awareness material
- Provide network/security support with a variety of operating systems to a variety of users
- Install and configure computer network/security equipment
- Monitor, maintain, and deploy a variety of security toolsets
- Assist with management, configuration, and maintenance of security systems such as video surveillance, firewall, endpoint protection
- Maintain servers and associated hardware, applications, services, and settings
- Identify and manage vulnerabilities
- Regular upkeep, configuration, and operation of local and wide area network, VOIP components, security components
- Provide tier-2 support and maintenance to Windows Enterprise, Linux/Unix Servers infrastructure
- Evaluate daily security alerts, remediate or escalate incidents from security logs and Security-as-a-Service providers (SECaaS)
- Brief technical leaders on the nature and impact of threats and vulnerabilities
- Manage end-user software accounts and permissions in accordance with ITS policies and procedures
- Create and update monitoring dashboards: resolving and escalating issues as necessary
- Ensure adherence to established security and network polices
- Gather documentary evidence of corporate policies and technical controls to meet Government requirements
- Work with project teams to ensure security controls are implemented and functioning as expected
- Test release of products, updates, and patches to minimize user impact and ensure compatibility
- Responsible for asset management for networking and security assets
- Work with ITS Support Services group on support requests/incidents/problems/tasks
REQUIREMENTS:
- College Diploma in Information Technology Systems, Computer Science or related field
- 3 - 5 years experience in networking and security
- 1 - 3 years experience providing enterprise support or service desk functions
- Experience with IT infrastructure technologies, video surveillance technologies, and virtual server environments
- ITIL Foundations v3/4, MCSE, CISSP, CCNA, or CCNP certification is preferred
- Experience in Microsoft environment with a working knowledge of various MS products (Sharepoint, Project Server, SQL, Exchange, SCCM, WSUS) and versions of MS windows servers including 2012, 2016, 2019, 2022
- Proven network engineering, network operations, and network performance analysis skills
- Fluent in scripting languages
- Experience with Cisco Switches, routers and Fortinet products
- Proficiency in Linux and IBM iSeries are considered an asset
- Highly motivated, analytical, organized, and efficient with a robust attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to assist non-technical individuals with complex issues
- Valid drivers license
