Your Position & How You Will Contribute:
We are looking for the Director – Information Technology. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, this position will be responsible for providing leadership, technology vision, and program management guidance in order to establish a fully integrated, business IT architecture. They will manage the evolution of a strong tech stack to support telMAX’s aggressive business plans, utilizing industry leading service delivery models, while maintaining a stable, robust and secure IT environment.
The Director will lead our technology strategy and operations, to enhance our capabilities to provide excellent service to our customers, to drive innovation and productivity within our business, to elevate the way we work, and help protect our assets. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in planning and deploying projects to achieve organizational priorities, but also brings a long-term strategic perspective, and demonstrates superior communication skills. This role will be hybrid, supporting all telMAX offices, but is based at the telMAX head office in Markham.
Responsibilities & Key Duties include:
IT Strategy:
- Define the evolution of the telMAX IT strategy, based on the business growth and strong knowledge of industry and technology capabilities in our space
- Managing the planning and project deployments to enable the ongoing evolution of our tech stack – including billing, provisioning, workforce management, ticketing, project management, CRM, and ERP system
- Ensure continuing technology leadership for our corporate applications and processes, through collaboration with external partners and vendors to assess the effectiveness of technology strategies and understanding of new technology solutions and best practices
IT Operations:
- Secure continuous business operations by providing excellent day-to-day IT support, data management and backups, and hardware management
- Maintain appropriate security on all devices (including servers, network, desktop, and mobile devices)
- Develop and maintain comprehensive policies and procedures for information management, business continuity, privacy and security.
- Continuously refine the cybersecurity framework to maintain protection against cyber threats to IT, network infrastructure and information assets.
- Support internal end users, including ensuring access to industry-leading training and resources related to the efficient use of desktop tools and corporate applications
- Develop and manage budgets for hardware and software, with a view to supporting a growing customer base and maintaining technology leadership within our business processes
- Advise on relevant new technologies and methodologies to enhance operational efficiency and performance

Education:
- University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, Data Science, Computer Engineering or other relevant discipline
- Relevant certifications in areas such as project management, data governance, enterprise architecture, change management, cyber security would be beneficial
- Understanding of applicable legislation and standards including PIPEDA, NIST, PCI DSS
Experience:
- Progressive leadership experience, including implementation of complex technology within an integrated environment
- Experience building and leading high-performing technical teams
- Strong skills in project delivery, including defining business and technical requirements, evaluation, planning, implementation, vendor management, integration, and data migration
- Strategic planning experience including cost, risk, benefit, and opportunity analysis
- Experience within a utilities or telecom environment would be beneficial
