Position Objective:
The Legal & Privacy Counsel is responsible for supporting the day-to-day management of Porsche Canada’s Privacy Management System (“PPMS”) in coordination with, and under the supervision and direction of, the General Counsel. This position also provides legal support on Canadian legal matters, including Customer Commitment claims and related litigation, CAMVAP matters, marketing and advertising legal review, French language requirements and disputes, customer complaints, and other legal matters that arise from time to time. The role also supports select compliance activities, including third-party risk management processes and related Legal and Compliance department administration.
Primary Responsibilities:
Privacy
- Lead the efforts to fulfill the Porsche Privacy Management System (PPMS) requirements and support the development and execution of the local privacy strategy
- Assist with the oversight of the integration of privacy in all relevant local processes and instruments
- Promote and advise on privacy best-practices and standards to all levels of the organization
- Partner with and provide guidance to business units, to ensure privacy risks are identified, proactively managed, and/or mitigated appropriately
- Assess new initiatives and participate in solution design to ensure sustainable processes and capabilities are in place to support Porsche Cars Canada’s privacy objectives
- Stay abreast of local and global privacy regulations, adapt regulatory requirements into business implications and remediation options
- Prepare reporting and provide oversight of the effectiveness of the local privacy activities as needed
- Partner with the relevant business leaders in the development and implementation of measures to improve the privacy-related local strategy
- Act as first point of contact for operational privacy compliance questions
- Assist with reporting, monitoring, and reviewing the effectiveness of the local privacy activities
Legal
- Review and provide legal advice and guidance related to Canadian marketing, advertising, consumer protection, French language, and other applicable legal requirements
- Support the management of Customer Commitment claims, disputes, and related litigation, including coordinating with internal stakeholders, external counsel, and other third parties as required
- Assist with CAMVAP related matters, including intake, case assessment, preparation of responses, coordination of documentation, and support for hearings or settlement discussions
- Assist with handling French language legal issues, including customer complaints, marketing materials, documentation review, and litigation or regulatory inquiries
- Assist with other Canadian legal topics as they arise from time to time.
Compliance
- Provide day-to-day support for select compliance topics, including policy administration, compliance reporting, training coordination, and issue tracking, as required
- Support the administration and use of the third-party risk management tool, including vendor intake, documentation review, escalation of legal or compliance risks, and follow-up with internal business owners
- Assist with Legal and Compliance department administration, recordkeeping, and process improvement initiatives
Qualifications:
Education:
- Law degree from a recognized law school and membership in good standing with a Canadian provincial or territorial law society, or eligibility to become licensed in Canada
Experience:
- Minimum 1-4 years’ legal, privacy, and/or compliance experience in Canada, preferably with exposure to the automotive industry, consumer disputes, litigation management, and privacy.
Skills:
- Substantive legal, privacy, and compliance knowledge, with a practical understanding of Canadian laws applicable to an automobile distributor, including privacy, consumer protection, marketing and advertising, French language requirements, and dispute/litigation management
- French language proficiency is preferred
- Must have proven negotiation skills
- Ability to travel within Canada and Europe, as necessary

The salary range for this position is $87,500 to $105,000 CAD, reflecting Porsche Cars Canada's commitment to pay transparency and equitable compensation practices.
Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, education, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and market competitiveness. Compensation is reviewed periodically and may be adjusted in accordance with business needs and market conditions.
In addition to base salary, eligible employees may participate in annual bonus programs, subject to plan terms and company performance.
