The Opportunity
Blueshift is seeking an ambitious Business Development Executive to help drive the next phase of our growth.
This is a true hunter role focused on generating net-new business opportunities and closing long-term managed services partnerships. You will be responsible for building your own pipeline through prospecting, networking, referrals, and strategic relationship development.
This is not an account management role. We are looking for someone who enjoys creating opportunities, opening doors, building relationships, and winning new business.
You will work directly with company leadership and technical specialists to identify client challenges and develop solutions that deliver measurable business value.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development & Prospecting
- Generate new business opportunities through cold outreach, networking, referrals, events, and relationship-building activities
- Build and maintain a qualified pipeline of managed services, cybersecurity, cloud, and infrastructure opportunities
- Identify organizations experiencing IT challenges, security concerns, operational inefficiencies, or growth-related technology needs
- Develop relationships with business owners, executives, and IT decision-makers throughout Alberta
Discovery & Solution Development
- Lead consultative discovery meetings with prospective clients
- Understand business objectives, operational challenges, and technology requirements
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce risk, strengthen security, and support business growth
- Collaborate with internal technical teams to develop tailored solutions and proposals
Sales Execution
- Manage opportunities throughout the entire sales cycle
- Present proposals and business cases to decision-makers
- Negotiate and close managed services agreements
- Support successful client onboarding and transition activities
- Maintain accurate sales activity, pipeline, and forecasting information
Market Development
- Build relationships with referral partners and complementary service providers
- Participate in networking and business development events
- Stay current on market trends related to cybersecurity, managed services, cloud adoption, and digital transformation
- Provide market feedback and competitive intelligence to leadership
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role will be measured by:
- Net-new Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR)
- Qualified pipeline growth
- New client acquisition
- Sales activity and prospecting effectiveness
- Forecast accuracy
- Proposal-to-close conversion rates
- Long-term client retention and expansion opportunities
First 90 Days
Within your first 90 days, you will:
- Learn Blueshift's service offerings and ideal client profile
- Build a target account list and territory strategy
- Establish referral relationships and networking channels
- Generate qualified discovery meetings through proactive outreach
- Build a growing sales pipeline
- Advance opportunities through the sales process
Qualifications Required
- Minimum 5 years of B2B sales or business development experience
- Proven track record of generating net-new business opportunities
- Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Experience managing complex sales cycles and executive-level conversations
- Highly self-motivated and comfortable working independently
- Valid driver's license and ability to attend client meetings throughout the Calgary area
Preferred
- Experience selling Managed IT Services, cybersecurity solutions, cloud services, telecommunications, infrastructure solutions, or technology consulting services
- Experience working within an MSP, VAR, cybersecurity, or technology services environment
- Existing network of business owners, executives, or technology decision-makers within the Calgary market
- Understanding of Microsoft 365, cybersecurity services, managed services agreements, and cloud technologies
