About the Role
This is a 5 week term position with potential to be extended. Our client is seeking a skilled Cybersecurity Analyst specializing in Splunk SPL and CrowdStrike XDR. Our team is responsible for overseeing critical cybersecurity controls and ensuring the integrity of our IT environment. We work to maintain a robust security posture and support organizational compliance with industry standards. This role also encompasses access hygiene analysis and compliance enforcement to ensure adherence to security standards and policies. The successful candidate will join the System Controls and Monitoring Team, playing a vital role in the Company’s proactive cybersecurity defense and compliance initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular reviews of account usage to ensure appropriate use of elevated credentials.
- Analyze and prioritize results based on risk impact and generate actionable reports for IT and business stakeholders.
- Collaborate with IT and Cyber Security teams to develop and implement remediation plans for identified anomalies.
- Track and report remediation progress, ensuring timely closure of vulnerabilities in line with established SLAs and compliance requirements.
- Continuously optimize reporting processes to enhance security posture.
- Assist in the development and improvement of access governance practices, including role-based access control and least privilege principles.
Qualifications
- Education: Two year diploma in cybersecurity or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Required Skills
- Experience: 1–3 years in cybersecurity, with a focus on investigations using Splunk, and user behaviour monitoring (UEBA) within the context of a compliance framework.
- Experience within the Oil and Gas industry is an asset.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Splunk SPL, CrowdStrike Falcon, Qualys Policy Audit.
- Familiarity with Identity and Access Management (IAM) principles and best practices.
- Experience with compliance and governance frameworks (e.g., SOX, PCI).
- Working knowledge of SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), and general IT infrastructure.
Preferred Skills
- Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
