Job Summary
The Privacy Analyst provides essential technical and analytical support to SE Health’s Privacy Office. Working under the direction of the Senior Privacy Specialist, with guidance from the Data Privacy Engineer, this role assists with the technical components of privacy compliance, including data flow validation, audit support, monitoring, and metrics development. The Privacy Analyst helps ensure systems, datasets, and emerging technologies meet privacy expectations while gaining foundational experience in technical privacy assessment within a large national healthcare environment.
Job Responsibilities
Transformation Project Support
These responsibilities primarily support digital transformation, system modernization, AI adoption, integrations, migrations, and privacy-by-design work across enterprise initiatives:
- Assist in mapping technical data flows across systems and validating how information moves between platforms, APIs, and integrations.
- Review technical documentation (architecture diagrams, schemas, retention behaviours) to support privacy assessments and PIAs.
- Help assess how new or existing systems enforce privacy controls such as minimization, role-based access, encryption, and retention.
- Participate in technical components of privacy-by-design reviews by gathering evidence and documenting system behaviours.
- Assist in analyzing how data is stored, replicated, retained, and archived, highlighting areas where technical changes may be needed.
- Support the evaluation of AI, automation, and emerging technologies by collecting technical inputs and identifying potential privacy risks.
- Validate data quality, data lineage, and system mappings to ensure accuracy during migrations, integrations, or decommissioning activities.
- Conduct preliminary risk analysis for proposed system enhancements or workflow changes from a privacy-technical perspective.
- Extract required technical evidence (metadata, logs, system events) to support privacy incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
- Prepare structured summaries of technical findings for review by the Senior Privacy Specialist and Data Privacy Engineer .
Privacy Operations, Monitoring and Documentation
These responsibilities primarily support ongoing organizational operations, governance, monitoring, and knowledge maintenance:
- Conduct preliminary analysis of system logs and audit trails to identify unusual access, anomalies, or potential privacy control issues.
- Help maintain technical inventories of applications, datasets, processing attributes, API connections, and system dependencies.
- Track and maintain AI and system documentation, ensuring technical artifacts used in privacy assessments are complete and current.
- Monitor trends in privacy engineering, logging practices, data governance tools, and technology safeguards, summarizing insights for the Privacy Office
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Health Information Management, Law, Business Administration, Information Management, or a related field.
- CIPP/C (IAPP) or CHIM (Canadian Health Information Management Certification) preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Training in privacy, compliance, or records management is an asset.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Health Informatics, or Law.
- Coursework or training in data privacy, cybersecurity, or information governance is an asset.
- Certifications (optional but advantageous):
- IAPP: CIPP/C or Foundations of Privacy
- CompTIA Security+
- AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud foundational certifications
Experience
- 0–2 years of experience in a technical, analytical, or privacy-related role.
- Exposure to systems analysis, auditing, or data governance is an asset.
- Experience interpreting logs, technical documentation, or system interactions preferred.
- Familiarity with PHIPA, PIPEDA, or similar privacy frameworks is beneficial but not required.

- Comfortable learning new technologies and working across complex systems.
- Effective communicator who can translate technical findings for non-technical audiences.
