We are currently seeking a Cyber Security Analyst to join our team.
The Cyber Security Analyst is responsible for Level 1 SOC operations and is an advisor to assist peers, and business stakeholders, on risks for programs and initiatives with Cyber Security components. The role actively promotes integration of security into most aspects of IT and the business. The role also ensures that Cyber Security operations are following regulatory and industry practices and that online and other threats and risks to FW are mitigated.
Here’s what would be included as a part of your typical day
Security & Incident Response: Assists and completes Level 1 SOC triage and investigations on security alerts while escalating more complex investigations to the Senior Cyber Security Analyst. Monitoring and response of Spam and Phishing email reports. Opening, and following to completion, the remediation of security incidents. Included in on-call rotations and assists other team members with afterhours incident resolution if required.
Risk Management: Proactively monitors First West’s networks for security breaches and/or incidents and investigates any violations; prepares reporting that documents security incidents and outlines impacts. Assists with security testing, both internally and externally, to look for vulnerabilities in FW systems. Prepares reports and recommendations to Leadership on any potential weaknesses in system security.
Cyber Security Systems: Assists with the ongoing support of Security DevOps and works with teams on the alignment and implementation of security recommendations. Provides operational support and incident management responses as required.
Team Support: Participates in any change management processes as required. Works with technology and business teams on enhancing FW cyber security. Participates in technology and business projects as the security operations subject matter expert.
Situational Awareness: Maintain up-to-date detailed knowledge of the information security industry including awareness of new or revised security solutions, improved security processes and the development of new attacks and threat vectors.
Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- College, Trade or Tech School Diploma (2 years) in a related discipline required
- Cyber Security certification(s) is an asset
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- 2+ years of Cyber Security experience, preferably operational security
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Analytical and logical thinking/problem solving
- Works well in a team environment
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, including Visio is required.
- Experience in securing Cloud deployments including PAAS, IAAS and SAAS
- Experience with Incident handling and investigations
- Basic understanding of NIST Cybersecurity Framework,
- Experience in a SOC environment is an asset.
- Strong understanding of IP, TCP/IP, and other common network protocols.
- Familiarity with securing Microsoft Cloud computing platforms.
- Displays an understanding of risk and risk ownership by being able to demonstrate adherence to policies and procedures.
