About The Job – Network Security Engineer
Our Network Security Engineers operate within the Platform Technology area of Platform Services and are primarily responsible for monitoring and maintaining a secure network environment through their expertise and tools. They work closely with other teams across Admiral Data & Tech and Cybersecurity.
Reporting to the Network Security Domain Lead, a Network Security Engineer will configure systems to defined standards, deliver a secure environment, and drive service improvements and enhancements.
Platform Technology has a long history of managing networks, firewalls, and application delivery controllers through a central Network team. Recently, Network Security has been separated into its own area to focus on an expanding remit and a broader portfolio of tools, including WAAP, SASE, and PKI. We are striving to implement greater levels of automation and self-service to increase efficiency across all engineering teams.
What are we looking for?
We take on various roles within IT, but we consistently seek individuals who are:
Requirements / Technologies
You will have experience with a variety of technologies across all aspects of IT, including:
- Network security and building secure environments.
- L4/L7 Firewalling using technologies such as Palo Alto and F5 Big-IP.
- WAAP technologies like F5 Distributed Cloud, Akamai, and Cloudflare.
- Secure Access Service Edge, preferably Netskope.
- PKI and PKI platforms.
- Automation and Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Git, Ansible, Python, Azure DevOps, etc.
- Cybersecurity concepts and frameworks.
- Experience in an Agile environment.
You will also:
- Be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written.
- Have a proven track record of solving complex problems.
- Be a network security technology expert with 5+ years of experience.
- Maintain your expertise by staying current in relevant technologies through research and other means.
- Produce numerous technology documents, including solution diagrams, processes, and procedures.
- Be comfortable creating a range of artifacts to effectively communicate with senior stakeholders within the organization.
- Champion and oversee the design, adoption, and implementation of best practices.
- Continuously identify and promote innovative ways to use technology to maximize business value.
Responsibilities
- Configure network security applications to achieve business outcomes while adhering to Admiral processes.
- Monitor and manage the lifecycle of network security applications.
- Participate in incident and problem management.
- Develop fit-for-purpose network solutions that meet non-functional requirements (scale, performance, security).
- Ensure security is central to every solution.
- Collaborate with others in the organization to understand business goals and contribute to the Enterprise Roadmaps.
- Support Tribe/Project leads as needed.
- Actively engage in the Technology governance process as required.
- Produce high-quality documentation (HLDs, concept presentations, executive summaries, etc.) with attention to detail.
- Contribute to the production of Low-Level Designs.
- Provide consultancy services to internal customers and colleagues, offering technical guidance and support.
- Maintain compliance with best standards and practices, including Group Minimum Standards.
