The Government of Alberta is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to join our dynamic Procurement Services team. This role is crucial for managing a portfolio of procurement files and ensuring that all processes align with the government’s commitment to efficient, open, and transparent procurement practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement Documentation:
Develop and prepare procurement and contracting documents that meet business objectives through a transparent and efficient process.
Project Support:
Assist in formulating recommendations on resource requirements and policy implications related to procurement methodologies.
Produce and package procurement deliverables for internal teams, steering committees, and project stakeholders.
Collaboration and Planning:
Collaborate with Corporate Purchasing leadership to develop comprehensive project plans detailing objectives, scope, risks, and budget.
Support multiple procurement projects and document project statuses against established objectives.
Tracking and Reporting:
Monitor and report on project milestones, budgets, and resources.
Facilitate the tracking and resolution of issues related to the procurement process.

Qualifications:

Must Have:

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a professional demeanor.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively.
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
Minimum 3 years of experience in public sector procurement processes, with an understanding of trade agreements.

Nice to Have:

Completion of SCMP or equivalent courses and certification.
Minimum 3 years of experience with tender systems (E-bidding).

Additional Information:

This position is primarily onsite, with standard working hours from 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday (max 7.25 hours/day).
A standard background check will be required before commencement of services.
Mandatory training will include topics such as Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Security/Cybersecurity, and Respect in the Workplace.

Interviews are expected to start the week of October 21, 2024.

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 4 months

Pay: $62.87 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
