About
I am a recent graduate from a doctoral program (computer science) at Carleton University, where I researched computer security. My primary research was on Internet of Things (IoT) security advice or "best practices" and how existing advice created for device manufacturers is overwhelmingly "non-actionable", meaning a piece of advice is ambiguous or might require guesswork to follow its instruction by the security practitioners intended to develop secure products. A secondary topic of my Ph.D. was IoT device identification and authentication.
In my Ph.D. (above), I studied computer security. In my Master's degree (Master of Science, Computer Science) I studied human-computer interaction, brain-computer interfaces, and machine learning. My undergraduate degree (Bachelor of Information Technology) was in computer networking and IT security. These areas of formal education allow me to excel in a breadth of cybersecurity-focused topics that are useful in many positions.
