OnX is looking for a bilingual, intermediate level Network Admin for a client-company in Ottawa. Main role is to be on the networking side, to cover holidays., perform back-up and security duties. The ideal candidate is bilingual or French-speaking.
Duration: 2mo contract (Part-Time 3 day per week/ onsite) with very possible extension to 6-month+
Location: Ottawa (Fairhaven/ Canadian Forces Base area)
Responsibilities
- Network Monitoring and Management:
Continuously monitor the network's performance and security, using tools like Cisco Prime, DNA, or similar. Identify and resolve network issues to ensure optimal uptime and performance.
Implement and maintain network security protocols, including managing firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS). Regularly update security measures to protect against emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
- Configuration and Change Management:
Maintain and update network configurations, including routers, switches, and firewalls, ensuring that all changes are documented and adhere to best practices. Manage network devices using Cisco IOS and regularly back up configurations.
- User Support and Troubleshooting:
Provide technical support to users experiencing network issues, resolving connectivity problems, and ensuring smooth operation of network services. This includes troubleshooting and diagnosing hardware and software issues across the network.
- Patch Management and Software Updates:
Regularly apply patches and updates to network devices, including switches, routers, and firewalls, to ensure the network is secure and up-to-date. Stay informed about the latest vulnerabilities and ensure the network devices are protected
Tech Expertise required with:
- LAN/WAN (routers/switches/APs/ Load Balancers etc )
- Infrastructure: Cisco technology
- load balancers for Firewalls and Wireless controllers
- Office365 and Azure
- Security: firewalls / OEM and quantities (FTDs technologies)
- Data centers
- Server environment (Microsoft, x86, Linux/windows/AIX ie/ network in Linux)
- Storage: cloud and on-prem
- Ticketing service: ServiceNow (SNOW)
