Our insurance client is growing and the latest engagement is for a Network Engineer to help adapt their enterprise infrastructure to accommodate their critical technology projects roadmap.
The ideal candidate will be eager and hands on, with the ability to carry independent projects through to completion, while also contributing to the broader infrastructure and technology teams as a key consultant. Our client embraces a collaborative and service oriented environment, and an overarching commitment to excellence which has resulted in consistent growth.
Key Accountabilities;
- maintaining and improving current network configuration, infrastructure, and security
- research and network design projects aimed toward future scale, security, and performance
- troubleshooting and configuration support by using your strong technical skills in Linux and Windows environments and IP networking
- VOIP Telephony with preference for Avaya Products
Qualifications;
- Working proficiency with Enterprise Scale WAN and LAN including NGFW (Palo Alto/FortiGate Preferred), web app firewalls, and optimization appliances
- Hands on experience with physical layer appliances and technologies such as Dell, Aruba, or Cisco
- Extensive VPN and remote teleworking exposure
- Experience with Software Defined Networking and Network Function Virtualization
- Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals
- Strong security concepts including experience logging and monitoring technologies such as Splunk, Tenable Nessus, and Wireshark and past participation in breach exercises is considered an asset
- Superb troubleshooting and investigation skills, and prior experience working in level 3 or 4 support is helpful
- Strong communication skills and excellent documentation hygiene is a must!
Additional Requirements:
- Occasional availability to work outside of business hours for network or systems changes, or escalation of critical production issues.
- There is potential for a need to lift computer hardware up to 25lbs and connect devices which might including running wires/cables through and around a corporate office setting.
This is a hybrid role located in their convenient downtown Toronto office, with 2 days per week in office and 3 working from home.
