The Opportunity:
Do you have strong organizational and communication skills combined with leadership skills to guide and motivate junior staff? Do you have experience in the design, implementation and support of Cisco networking and security technologies in large Data Centers? If this sounds like you, we are pleased to share with you an exciting opportunity as Intermediate Technical Analyst, Network & Security Infrastructure within Infrastructure Services.
What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role, you will ensure uptime of the Services’ Network & Security Infrastructure environment on a 24x7 basis. You will implement and maintain the Services’ Network & Security Infrastructure environment and monitor the infrastructure to ensure it is reliable, accessible and secure. You will also provide guidance and training to Junior Technical Analyst and other members of ITS.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Tests, evaluates and qualifies new Network (LAN, WLAN & WAN) & Security Infrastructure solutions.
- Designs and implements systems for automation tasks, monitoring the environment and sending alerts when failures occur.
- Develops and manages project initiatives to improve or stabilize the Network & Security Infrastructure.
- Develops operational support documentation and training information for co-workers.
- Provides technical expertise to analyze and resolve complex Network & Security Infrastructure related problems.
- Installs and configures switches, routers, firewalls, WIFI, network security systems and other network appliances.
- Researches current market trends as it pertains to Network & Security Infrastructure, design, support and best practices.
- Provides guidance and training to Junior Technical Analysts and other members of I.T.S.
- Participates in interview panels for potential new hires.
- Performs typical duties inherent to the position.
Education/Experience:
- University or College Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, data networking or engineering, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Minimum three years of technical support experience in increasingly responsible Network & Security Infrastructure related positions.
- Must have a Cisco CCNA or CCNP Certification.
- Minimum two years working experience in the design, implementation and support of Cisco networking and security technologies in large Data Centers.
- Minimum two years working experience with Cisco Data Center networking and security technologies like ACI/SDN and SD-WAN.
- Minimum two years training or experience with Palo Alto/Fortinet and Microsoft Azure networking and security or similar technologies.
- Experience with Microsoft technologies including Windows Server 2019 and VMWare vCenter is preferred.
Skills/Competencies:
- Knowledge of Python, XML and JSON would be an asset
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Must have (or be willing and eligible to obtain) a Class “G” Drivers licence and a Toronto Police Service “Blue Card”.
- Must be willing to be ‘on call’ for after-hours technical support on a rotating basis.
- Completes any required technical certifications required for system access.
