Role Responsibilities
The Ministry of Health is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented systems thinker, ideally with a strong background in legislative and/or policy work. If you’re self-motivated and ready to facilitate impactful change in health legislation and policy, we want to hear from you!
As the
Legislative Analyst, you will report to the Manager of Legislative Planning. You will be responsible for planning, development and implementation of legislation, regulations, and other legal instruments in Health. You will be required to work closely with department staff and officials including central agencies such as Executive Council, Legislative Counsel Office and Legal Services.
You will work with the Manger of Legislative Planning, to provide corporate legislative services for all bills, regulations, Orders in Council, and Ministerial Orders within the legal framework of the Ministry of Health.
You will transform policy into legislation and contribute to the development and execution of both the departments legislative and regulatory agenda in order to accomplish government priorities.

Qualifications
University graduation in related field such as Law, Political Science, Arts, Social Science or other relevant studies, and
four (4) years of related experience.
Equivalency
Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.
Assets
- Understanding of principles and processes associated with legislative and regulatory planning, development and drafting.
- Experience with freedom of information and protection of privacy legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Experience writing reports, briefings, policy documents.
- Experience planning and leading projects, project management, and facilitating meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- General knowledge of other legislation impacting the Ministry (e.g. Financial Administration, FOIP Act, Government Organization Act, Interpretation Act, Alberta Public Agencies Governance Act) and related regulations.

Hours of Work
7.25 hours daily/ 36.25 hours weekly, Monday to Friday
Location
ATB Place North, Edmonton, Alberta. position requires working from the office with an option to qualify for a hybrid work arrangement (in accordance with GOA policy).
