The Simcoe County District
School Board is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Manager
of Cyber Security and Data Privacy to work as a member of the senior technical
team within Information Technology Services (ITS). Reporting to the
Superintendent of Information Technology Services, the successful candidate
will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the board’s
cyber security strategies, policies, and procedures. The incumbent will work
closely with ITS staff and board staff to ensure the protection of sensitive
data and compliance for the board. This position may require flexibility for
work hours.
Responsibilities
Develop and enforce policies and procedures for data security
and privacy.
Manage a team of cyber security professionals to monitor and
protect against threats.
Manages security projects, ensuring projects
are properly documented and completed in a timely fashion, within budget.
Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments.
Respond to security incidents and lead remediation efforts.
Provide training and awareness programs for staff and
students on data security best practices.
Oversee the management of security technologies such as
firewalls, anti-virus software, and intrusion detection systems.
Regular analysis of network resources for abnormalities and
potential security breaches. Dealing with abnormalities or potential risks
appropriately and timely, including the escalation of issues as required.
Works with the Information Technology Services department to
participate in the development and annual review of the ITS strategic plan.
Support and administration of security technologies such as
SIEM (Security Information and Event Management), EDR (Endpoint Detection &
Response), Network/Systems monitoring, Cyber Security.
Implementation of Identity and security related processes and
procedures.
Use provided tools to perform continual monitoring and
analysis of system activity to identify malicious activity and configure
mitigations.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
and Skills Required:
University degree in Information Technology,
Computer Science or equivalent plus relevant certifications. Industry
recognized certifications such as CISM, CISSP, CRISC, etc.
Minimum Five (5) Years’ Experience In Cyber
security management or seven (7) years’ related experience in information
technology, including experience within a large complex unionized environment.
Proven supervisory and leadership skills, including
direct experience supervising employees.
Excellent knowledge of Cybersecurity detect and
response methodologies, standards and best practices.
Proficient and demonstrated experience in managing
network security, operating systems security and cloud security.
Proven Understanding of key IT / Cybersecurity
concepts (Network Security, Security Operations & Administration, Managed
Detection and Response, Incident Response & Recovery, Vulnerability
Management, etc.)
Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of
current Cyber Security Frameworks (NIST, CIS, ISO 27001 & ISO 27002).
Excellent team leadership and
organizational skills as well as the ability to work independently and in a
team environment; exceptional problem-solving skills and works well under
pressure to meet aggressive timelines and resolve critical issues and excellent
interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
A valid driver’s license and
reliable vehicle are required as this position requires travel.
Testing May Be Required During The Selection Process.
This is
a full-time permanent position. The regular work year for this position is
twelve (12) months of the year. The compensation range for this twelve (12)
month position is $138,595 per year, depending on qualifications and
experience. This position is based on a thirty-five (35) hour work week. This position may require flexibility for
work hours dependent upon cyber security issues for the board.
Participation in the OMERS Pension Plan is
mandatory for all full-time permanent employees,
even if currently in receipt of an OMERS
pension.
