As a Senior Policy Advisor, you will play a crucial role in providing leadership, policy expertise, and program support related to information access, privacy, and legislative compliance. Collaborate with ministry executives, analyze regulations, and contribute to the development of impactful policies that impact provincial and municipal institutions.

About Us:
The Privacy, Access, and Cyber Security Policy Branch is a newly formed branch in the Strategic Policy Division in Policy, Archives and Data in the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery. The branch provides policy leadership across privacy and access, including the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) and the Archives and Recordkeeping Act (ARA). The branch also provides policy leadership related to cyber-security, and service delivery policy, including the Ministry of Government Services Act (MGSA) and the At Your Service Act (AYSA).

What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role, you will:
• Research, analyze, and develop legislative and regulatory amendments, policies, guidelines, and tools related to FIPPA compliance
• Evaluate and provide recommendations on access and privacy issues for enterprise and ministry projects.
• Monitor and assess the effectiveness of corporate policies, programs, and training related to access and privacy.
• Provide expert advice to stakeholder groups, including provincial and municipal institutions.
• Participate in cross-cluster/ministry working committees and consult with other levels of government.
• Address specific training needs and strategic communications.
How do I qualify?
Leadership and Project Management
You have:
• experience providing leadership in program/policy development, delivery and implementation
• project leadership to lead projects from initial concept through completion within specific timelines
• leadership skills to provide project leadership and advice to an assigned team of professionals
Research, Evaluation and Analytical
You can:
• assess the effectiveness of policies/programs against Ministry initiatives and goals
• interpret and apply policy, procedures and legislation
• apply sound judgment, sensitivity and a high degree of political acuity
Relationship Management and Facilitation
You have:
• have experience in creating and managing complex stakeholder relationships
• the ability to work collaboratively to resolve issues, negotiate changes and shifts in priorities
• the ability to lead consultations with stakeholders ensuring a shared understanding
Communication
You can:
• respond to issues, provide recommendations and prepare reports using standard computer software
• create, lead and present briefings on complex issues analysis to senior management
Technical Knowledge
You have knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn and apply knowledge of:
• Information management and information technology strategies and policy (e.g. in the areas of privacy, access, cyber security, service delivery, digital, data)
