JUNIOR NETWORK SECURITY ANALYST
(Temporary, September – December, $22.68/hour)
Reporting to the Network Security Administrator, the Junior Network Security Analyst plays a crucial
role in safeguarding the organization's digital assets and ensuring robust information security. This
role involves proactively monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security incidents, as well as
contributing to the development and refinement of cybersecurity policies and procedures. The
successful applicant is focused on staying ahead of evolving cyber threats to maintain the
confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the deployment and maintenance of network security monitoring systems.
- Aid in deploying and configuring new servers within security and monitoring silos.
- Monitor security logs of servers and devices to identify risks, errors, or intrusions leveraging our
SIEM and other reporting devices.
- Collaborate with the team to respond to security events as needed.
- Thoroughly document cybersecurity incidents, including the nature of the incident, actions taken,
and lessons learned, to maintain detailed incident response records.
- Contribute to the documentation of cybersecurity policies and procedures, ensuring they are clear,
up-to-date, and aligned with industry standards.
- Generate and maintain reports on security monitoring activities, key performance indicators, and
security metrics for management and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that documentation supports overall IT and
cybersecurity objectives.
- Serve as the initial escalation point for cybersecurity issues raised by other staff members.
Successful applicants will possess the following:
- Current students or recent graduates from post-secondary educational institutions are encouraged
to apply.
- CompTIA Security+ certification is preferred.
- Experience with SIEM Tools.
- Knowledge of security models in a Microsoft Server environment.
- Familiarity with Cloud security specifically M365 is an asset.
- Understanding of network protocols, firewall configurations, and VLANs.
- Relevant training in security-related technology, risk mitigation, and techniques.
- Understanding of Incident Response frameworks like NIST.
- Familiarity with vulnerability assessment tools.
