As part of our Head Office operations team, the Network Administrator will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the organization’s computer networks. This includes ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the information systems that support core organizational functions. The role involves planning, coordinating, and overseeing network upgrades, enhancements, and maintenance while providing technical support and coaching to users.
What you’ll do:
- Install, configure, and support the software and hardware components of internal/external networks
- Perform routine network maintenance and system upgrades, including service packs, patches, hotfixes, and security configurations.
- Provide technical support to users, resolving network, computer and printer issues and providing training when necessary.
- Implement and monitor security protocols to safeguard the network against cyber threats.
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Monitor network performance and optimize as necessary to ensure efficient operation.
- Work closely with IT staff, management, and other departments to align network capabilities with business needs. Develop and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
- Manage your own schedule and time.
Qualifications and key competencies:
- Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an acceptable combination of education and relevant experience required.
- Advanced overall knowledge of network infrastructure and network hardware.
- Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools.
- Proficiency with security issues and solutions, such as firewalls, VPN’s, encryption, and other aspects of network security technologies. In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and OSI network layers.
- Ability to explain technical concepts and theories to non-technical audiences.
The Network Administrator must have an in-depth understanding of IT security. They will have strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills. They must also have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks. This is a full-time position that may be located anywhere in the Maritime provinces with preference for individuals located near Eddy Group Ltd locations. Regular business hours are from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday. However, flexibility is required for after-hours support of business-critical hardware and software. On call support is required for emergency situations. The successful candidate will need the ability to travel to Eddy Group Limited locations, attend meetings, educational seminars, and networking events as required.
Annual base salary will be commensurate with your experience.
