Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, Access and Privacy Policy, you will be part of a team responsible for the development, maintenance and enhancement of policy instruments and the development of the policy framework associated with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) and the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
Your Responsibilities Include (but Are Not Limited To)
- Addressing issues and opportunities related to access to information and privacy through the evaluation, development and implementation of legislation and policy instruments and completion of projects and activities;
- Reviewing, evaluating, and interpreting policy instruments within the framework of the department's business plan objectives;
- Identifying, evaluating, and describing complex and sensitive issues that impact access to information and the protection of privacy, including technical, behavioural, and environmental factors that contribute to these issues;
- Assisting departments with the implementation of new policy and/or process through consultation and advice;
- Conducting research and gathering information (including stakeholder input) on trends and background research in the access to information and privacy sector and integrating research into final reports/recommendations
- Ensuring representation of government interests and priorities by providing input and information to meet objectives.
- Providing guidance and mentorship to junior team members to support continual improvement and capacity development.
- Maintaining open and collaborative communication channels within the team.

Qualifications
Required:
- A related university degree (e.g., Public Administration, Public Policy, Communication, Business Administration), supplemented by at least four (4) years of related experience with interpreting legislation. Equivalencies may be considered.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Assets
- Extensive knowledge of policy development
- Knowledge and understanding of the legislation (Acts and Regulations), programs, policies, practices, and precedents governing access to information and protection of privacy, such as the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, the Personal Information Protection Act, the Government Organization Act, and the Electronic Transactions Act
- Experience with planning and implementing stakeholder engagements
Equivalencies Are
A related two-year diploma and a minimum of six (6) years of related experience; a related one-year certificate and a minimum of seven (7) years of related experience; or a minimum of eight (8) years of related experience.

Notes
This position is a permanent, full-time role with the standard weekly work hours of 36.25, Monday to Friday (8:15 am – 4:30 pm).
Interviews are anticipated to be scheduled for the week of September 16th.
Pre-Employment Checks will be completed to assess the candidate’s suitability for a role. These checks may include (but are not limited to): references, criminal record check, academic verification, etc.
Testing will be administered as part of our assessment process.
While this position is eligible for remote work, the successful candidate must reside in Alberta to work remotely.
Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary.
