Conditions of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must be able to provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.

Qualifications:
Essential:
- A Master’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology. Relevant certification in Cyber Security may also be accepted.
- Experience leading service planning and/or delivery teams, including the coaching, mentoring, and performance management of staff.
- Experience in vendor and contract management.
- Experience with governance, risk management and compliance processes.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop, foster and maintain respectful relationships with diverse external and internal stakeholders.
- Strong political acumen skills.
- Experience in financial management including business case development, cost estimation, and budget management.
- Experience designing and reporting against performance measures.
Desired:
- Knowledge of Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) considered an asset.
- CISSP and/or CISM Certification.

Duties:
The Director Information Security will plan, manage, and be responsible for the protection of the Government of Manitoba’s information technology assets from a confidentiality, integrity, and availability perspective. The incumbent is responsible for the identification, assessment, monitoring, detection, investigation, research, and response to threats and incidents impacting the security of information technology assets and operate an assigned portfolio of IT services.
The incumbent of this position is also responsible for the following:
- Motivate staff through constructive and positive feedback and effective performance management. Recognizes and promotes opportunities to support workplace wellness.
- Development of business cases for new services, or for discontinuing existing services, in response to changing business requirements in departments or the broader public sector.
- Demand Management, Financial Management and Portfolio Management of a portfolio of IT Services.
