Our current needs
Nord Quantique is looking for an Electrical & Electronics Technician to support the development, prototyping, integration, testing, and production of advanced quantum computing systems.
Working closely with engineers, scientists, and technical staff, you will contribute to the realization of electronic assemblies, electrical subsystems, and experimental hardware used throughout our research and product development activities. You will play a key role in bridging design and implementation, transforming engineering concepts into reliable and testable hardware solutions.
This role combines hands-on electronics work, PCB assembly, electrical integration, prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and technical documentation. You will contribute throughout the complete product lifecycle, from proof-of-concept prototypes to production-ready systems.
The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced R&D environment, has strong practical problem-solving abilities, and takes pride in building high-quality hardware with attention to detail.
Working in close collaboration with technical and management staff at Nord Quantique, the chosen candidate will:
- Design of PCBs, including component selection, schematic drawing and PCB layout
- Perform board-level testing, validation, debugging, and troubleshooting
- Assemble, solder, inspect, and rework printed circuit boards (PCBs)
- Build prototypes and experimental electronic assemblies for R&D projects
- Fabricate wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and custom electrical interconnections
- Perform electrical wiring, panel assembly, cable routing, and system integration activities
- Read, interpret, and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings
- Use laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and signal generators for testing and diagnostics
- Support assembly and testing of complete electromechanical systems
- Contribute to continuous improvement of assembly, testing, and manufacturing processes
- Maintain accurate documentation, test reports, assembly procedures, and technical records
- Support the transition of prototypes into manufacturing and production environments.
Education and experience requirements:
Required
- DEC, Technical Diploma, or equivalent education in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electromechanics, Instrumentation, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in electronics assembly, electrical integration, or hardware prototyping
- Experience with PCB assembly, soldering, rework, and troubleshooting
- Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical drawings
Preferred
- Experience in a high-tech, scientific, aerospace, robotics, or advanced R&D environment
- Experience with prototype development and low-volume manufacturing
- Experience using PCB prototyping and fabrication equipment
- Experience collaborating closely with engineering teams during product development
Sought expertise and knowledge:
- PCB assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and rework.
- Electrical wiring, harness fabrication, and system integration.
- PCB design tools and technical drawings (Altium; SolidWorks Electrical is an asset).
- Strong documentation, attention to detail, and practical problem-solving skills.
