We are looking for an Technical Specialist: Integrated Security Systems to support our ongoing work with the Government of Canada’s physical security programs.
You will work as subject matter expert and advisor, supporting technical physical security projects with RHEA’s clients, and will be an expert in the areas of integrated security systems and technologies, as well as their implementation, maintenance and management.
About the team and location
Working as part of the physical security team, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of designers, technicians and subject matter experts to deliver on physical security projects. Reporting to the Director – Service Delivery, this position operates in a hybrid environment (with on-site requirements on client site in Ottawa/Gatineau).
Tasks and Activities
The scope of work will include:
- Developing Integrated Security Systems concept designs, preliminary designs, detailed designs, documents, developing technical test plans, implementing technical test plans, commissioning technical systems and leading technical workshops and reviews.
- Developing specifications involving multiple technologies such as (but not limited to): digital video surveillance, electronic access control, security intercom systems, control centre alarm and video monitoring equipment, emergency call systems, radio systems and console equipment.
- Reviewing, understanding, and providing meaningful comment on a broad scope of technical and business deliverables.
- Providing support in the preparation of procurement documentation, procurement plans, researching available technologies, providing detailed option analysis and tracking procurement activities.
- Developing educational material and events related to Integrated Security Systems.
- Developing approaches for consultation with key stakeholders.
Skills and Experience
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
- A minimum of ten years’ experience in physical security.
- Hold a CPP or PSP designation with ASIS.
- Hold or qualify for a Government of Canada level 2 security clearance.
- Post-secondary education (degree or diploma), ideally in a related field.
- Previous experience in the design and implementation of physical security systems in large, complex environments (ideally with multiple sites).
- Experience developing business, technical and functional security requirements.
The following credentials and experience are a significant asset:
- Experience with AutoCAD or Revit
- Experience working in Government of Canada environments, ideally in a security-related role.
