WINDSOR POLICE SERVICE

announces openings for the position of

DIGITAL EVIDENCE DISCLOSURE CLERK

Compensation: Approximately $34.00 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Digital Evidence Disclosure Clerk is responsible for facilitating the timely disclosure of all digital evidence for the Crown Attorney, Provincial Offences Court (POA) and Freedom of Information requests; including preparing audio and video files and performing necessary redactions in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information & Privacy Act (MFIPPA) and other policy, legislative and investigative requirements. This position may be required to attend court and requires a high degree of sensitivity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review images, audio and video evidence and redact sound or images in preparation for disclosure to the Crown Attorney’s office and POA Prosecutors.
  • Review and redact digital evidence as above as it relates to access to information requests.
  • Clarify and obtain missing information pertaining to digital evidence.
  • Answer inquiries and provide support to Windsor Police members and outside agencies regarding requests for digital evidence.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess a Grade 12 graduation diploma or equivalent, as recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Education, or completed post-secondary education at an accredited college or university as an adult student
  • Minimum of 2 years experience within a policing environment or experience working with digital evidence in a similar capacity.
  • Knowledge of Versadex RMS, police CAD systems, Digital Evidence Management Systems considered an asset
  • Knowledge of the Municipal Freedom of Information & Privacy Act (MFIPPA) and the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) considered an asset
  • Previous experience with video editing/management considered an asset

Candidates successful in interviews will also be required to successfully complete a thorough background investigation and psychological assessment.

Duties for this position are a rotating 8-hour day and afternoon shift schedule, 7 days per week.
