Role Overview:
As a Data Governance Lead, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective management, security, and utilization of organizational data. Your responsibilities will encompass defining and implementing data governance policies, collaborating with stakeholders, and driving best practices across multiple data domains.
Key Responsibilities:
- Policy Development and Implementation:
- Define and operationalize data governance policies, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Promote adherence to data governance best practices and industry standards.
- Enforce policies related to data quality, privacy, and security.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data stewards, business units, and IT, to establish data governance frameworks.
- Facilitate data governance meetings and committees.
- Serve as a conduit between senior stakeholders and the data governance team.
- Data Catalog and Lineage:
- Create and maintain a comprehensive data catalog, documenting data sources, lineage, and metadata.
- Ensure data accessibility and understanding for relevant stakeholders.
- Compliance and Risk Management:
- Monitor compliance with legal and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) related to data privacy and protection.
- Mitigate data-related risks by implementing appropriate controls.
- Program Funding and Support:
- Secure funding for data governance initiatives.
- Allocate suitable time for team members to fulfill their roles within the data governance team.
- Strategic Alignment:
- Align data governance goals with institutional strategies.
- Work closely with the data governance council and executive sponsor to drive program success.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Management).
- Minimum of five years' experience in data governance, big data, or related areas.
- Proficiency in data governance frameworks and tools.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
