Junior Systems & Information Security Engineer

OVERVIEW
As a Junior Systems & Information Security Engineer, you will be responsible for monitoring security and network systems, ensuring compliance with security controls, assisting with day to day support initiatives and triage of support tickets. You will work under the guidance of a Senior Systems & Information Security Engineer, and the Supervisor of Systems & Information Security. You will also be responsible for monitoring the Systems & Information Security support queue, providing support to clients and project teams, troubleshooting issues relating to security systems and related components.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Providing day to day support by monitoring, triaging, and resolving issues reported to the team through our ticketing solution. This involves communication with internal users and solution providers, and documenting steps and actions within a ticketing solution.
- Provide support and troubleshoot issues relating to security systems and related components.
- Monitor security and network systems to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities, and to ensure compliance with security controls.
- Identify and investigate potential security incidents, provide recommendations for remediation and escalate accordingly.
- Work closely with the Senior Systems & Information Security Engineers, and other IT teams, to ensure the overall security of the organization's information assets.
- Participate in incident response activities and take necessary actions to remediate incidents.
- Keep up to date with the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies.
- Prepare reports and dashboards to provide insight into security posture and incidents.
- Assist with generation, and maintenance, of support documentation and workflows for reference within a knowledgebase.
- Assist with implementation of recent technology, or business initiatives, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Knowledge
- Bachelor's degree, or diploma, in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as Security+, CASP+, CEH, CCNA Security, or equivalent.
Experience
- Practical experience with administration and support activities within secure email gateways and web gateways.
- Practical experience with Carbon Black App Control, and an understanding of application whitelisting solutions.
- Practical experience with server and client-side antivirus solutions, including investigating and responding to alerts.
- Practical experience in monitoring/querying within a SIEM
- Practical experience around networking concepts and protocols, including the use of packet capture software.
- Practical experience demonstrating problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
