Cybersecurity Intern – 4 month term 40 hours per week starting May 2024
JOB DESCRIPTION
This position will support the IT Cybersecurity department implementing and executing cyber security controls, and ongoing delivery of projects to maintain a sustainable and secure IT environment. This is an excellent opportunity to gain broad exposure to maintaining an IT environment with practical experience working in the challenging domain of cyber security.
As a member of the team, you will work in a collaborative environment and will develop your skills across the security domains of application security, security operations and incident detection and response. Within these domains you will assess the security of applications, investigate and respond to security alerts, assist with security audits and identify and automate manual tasks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contribute to the creation of IT security policies and standards
- Investigate security alerts and coordinate the response under supervision
- Help with brand protection, copyright infringement, and intellectual property theft
- Assist development teams in identifying security requirements and areas of focus
- Learn and aid in privacy, regulation, and security framework compliance
- Develop and enhance playbooks and procedures as needed for focused projects
- Monitor systems for threats and vulnerabilities as assigned
- Participate in security architecture reviews and exception approval processes
- Stay abreast of industry and technology threats to guide security decisions
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to thoroughly and logically analyze complex system applications, using both deductive and intuitive reasoning to recognize potential problem areas is essential
- Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks and quickly adjust in a rapidly changing environment
- Effective and proven organizational skills to meet multiple deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a high pressure and demanding work environment

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Experience or coursework in cybersecurity
- Experience or coursework with web technologies
- Experience or coursework with a scripting language
- Knowledge of networking, operating systems and cloud infrastructure
- A strong desire to learn, contribute and collaborate
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Information Security concepts
