Your Duties will include

  • Plan, configure and maintain logical network configuration of routers, switches, and firewalls associated with network traffic.
  • Maintain existing network equipment and software to include patches and upgrades for enhancement or security.
  • Participate in network projects, which include installation of new network hardware or software and network configuration and design. Provide guidance, work direction and information to other associates and third party service providers.
  • Monitor network operations for anomalies associated with hardware failure, security, or wide area network (WAN) links or connections.
  • Troubleshoot network hardware, software, or routing problems. Analyze the issue, identify root cause and implement a timely resolution. May require working with store associates and/or collaboration with third party technicians.
  • Administer and analyze existing network, hardware and cabling to develop requirements for the design and implementation of new or revised network and computer systems such as remote access servers, firewall, routers and LAN switches.
  • Monitor and report network and systems changes and expansions for capacity planning and performance optimization purposes.
  • Develop and administer appropriate network and Internet security. Perform security audits and other related tasks independently or jointly with third party service providers or other FT departments.
  • Strive to provide all approved users of the enterprise with uninterrupted access to network resources through all office locations, home computing sites via LAN/WAN, wireless, internet and VPN to the network.
  • Process and maintain the VOIP Communication systems for adds, deletes, changes, upgrades.
  • Perform audits on internet costs, participate in discussions to keep costs low; ensure we stay current with financial changes in the industry.
  • Work with the Security Architect, investigating, tracking and concluding security incidents that have occurred within the network, and taking a joint effort to reduce another occurrence
  • Evaluate new network hardware and software to determine if it meets the needs of the organization.
  • Perform audits on store phone lines. Participate in discussions to lower costs and upgrade phone systems.
  • Responsible for maintaining appropriate hardware levels, including but not limited to routers and switches.
  • Adhere to and champion the ITIL based principles established for problem, change and asset management. Effectively utilize the System Management tools available to support the principles.
  • Provide management with reporting and analysis on network efficiency and performance.
  • Lead continuous improvement of processes and procedures


What does it take to get on track?

  • A technical degree, diploma or networks certifications are preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience as a Network Administrator
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience with wide and local area networks, including experience with common-carrier data networks.
  • Detailed knowledge of security engineering (e.g., operating system, DBMS, application engineering, and
  • workflow – methods, tools, software products, and environments and technology architectures, products and fire-walling).
  • Knowledge at the expert level of TCP/IP, internet networks, connections, wiring and cabling, and network management.
  • Extensive proven technical abilities/problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills in network systems, personal computer hardware and software.
  • A high degree of customer focus and good attention to detail
  • A strong belief and understanding of being a team player in an enterprise environment.
  • Must be available for 24-hour “on-call” to respond to network system emergencies.
