My client is a provincial crown corporation that funds supports and services to adults with developmental disabilities. They are now looking for a Privacy Analyst to join the team. Position will be responsible for ensuring that privacy requirements are met and in responding to FOIPPA requests, monitoring and continuously improving organization's program inclusive of developing policies and procedures including standards, forms, and agreements that support their privacy initiatives, as well as communicating with external bodies as needed to ensure appropriate responses to requests.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that privacy requirements are met and in responding to FOIPPA (Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act) requests and the principles of administrative fairness and common law.
- Conduct assessments of current privacy practices, policies, and procedures to identify gaps and areas for improvement.
- Provide guidance and support to business units on privacy-related matters, including data processing activities, consent mechanisms, and data subject rights.
- Responding directly to individuals, families about complaints related to the way their personal information has been handled.
- Develop and deliver privacy training and awareness programs for employees to promote compliance and understanding of privacy requirements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field such as law, information technology, or business administration.
- Expert knowledge of FOIPPA, including information access, the release of information, and implementation of control technologies as they apply to privacy information contained in electronic and non-electronic media.
- Ability to interpret privacy concepts and requirements in light of diverse business functions and operational activities.
- CIPP (Certified Information Privacy Professional) designation is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate privacy concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
