Access to Information and Privacy Consultant

Our federal government client is seeking a ATIP Consultant to join them on contract to interpret and apply the Access to Information Act on contentious and complex documents. This will be a Hybrid role 3 days onsite, 2 days remote.

Position Details:

• Must hold valid secret clearance
• Hybrid work location
• Contract from May 2024 - Sept 2024
• Must have knowledge of and experience using APCM and APR
• Must have recent experience in the application of section 13, 15, 16, 29, 20, 21, 23, and 69 of the ATIA

Tasks:

• Review of the applicant's request for information under the Access to Information Act or Privacy Act
• Research precedent case files and determine the most appropriate course of action and select records relevant to requests
• Prepare the necessary consultations with other government departments, thirds parties, legal and other relevant stakeholders
• Perform a complete review of consultation responses and contact relevant OPIs for clarification if required or disagreement with proposed severances
• Submit a final release package for delegated authority approval
• Update Access Pro Case Management Database to document actions taken on the files
• Coordinate the defence of decisions on complaints submitted to the Information or Privacy Commissioner
• Provide advice and guidance to management including senior management, department and agencies
• Perform a detailed quality control review of all documents.
