Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive IT Network and Systems Administrator to oversee the availability, security, performance, and overall health of our computer network infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring, reporting, and promptly addressing any issues to ensure uninterrupted network operations. Additionally, they will stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies to enhance our information technology systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and report on the availability, security, performance, and general health of hardware and software components of the computer network.
- Identify and track best practices, trends, and advances in the information technology field for potential application within the organization.
- Forecast internal and external customer needs and requirements for information technology applications, hardware, networks, and supporting technology.
- Provide technical problem-solving assistance for communications, information technology, and telecommunications applications.
- Manage and maintain server and workstation security, including firewall monitoring, VPN access, wireless network security, antivirus systems, and security certificate management.
- Administer VMWare systems and storage array systems, ensuring their proper functioning and performance.
- Monitor and maintain server health, including Active Directory and Group Policy configuration support.
- Manage data backup solutions and perform backup data recovery as needed.
- Provide helpdesk support via telephone and email, addressing user inquiries and technical issues.
- Ensure Windows operating systems are up to date by monitoring patch levels and scheduling software updates for servers and workstations.
- Prepare annual reports on network health and activity, detailing support provided.
- Conduct annual network health reviews, capacity planning, and strategic planning for backups, firewalls, storage arrays, servers, and network hardware.
- Provide end-user support and training to enhance their understanding of IT systems and security protocols.
- Assist in the development of IT business continuity plans to mitigate the impact of server failures, destruction, or cyber-attacks.
- Conduct annual employee cyber awareness and security training sessions.
- Assist SIP staff in preparing cyber insurance renewal applications.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Network and Systems Administrator or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, security principles, and IT best practices.
- Proficiency in server administration, VMWare, storage arrays, and Active Directory.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Security+, MCSE) are preferred.
