We are a high-caliber team building the sensing and AI infrastructure for autonomous biomanufacturing: real-time electrochemical biosensors, closed-loop AI process control, and our bioreactor platform. We work alongside major technology partners in the sensing, computing, and industrial automation space. This is not a large-company role. We hire people who personally do the work at the highest level.
Role Summary
This is a hands-on bench electrochemistry role. You will personally design, develop, and troubleshoot electrochemical biosensors at the core of our real-time inline analytics platform. You are not managing a lab — you are running the experiments yourself.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrochemical sensors for real-time biomanufacturing monitoring applications.
- Personally perform bench work: electrode fabrication, surface modification, calibration, and characterization.
- Diagnose and resolve sensor performance issues such as drift, fouling, interference, and signal degradation.
- Evaluate sensor performance under realistic bioprocess conditions, including relevant matrices and operating ranges.
- Work closely with the electronics team to optimize the sensor-to-hardware signal interface.
- Maintain rigorous lab documentation, including experimental protocols and lab notebooks.
- Support scale-up and manufacturability of sensor chemistries and fabrication processes.
- Stay current with developments in electrochemistry and biosensor science relevant to our platform.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Biochemistry, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated hands-on bench experience with electrochemical sensors (e.g., amperometric, potentiometric, or related techniques).
- Practical experience with electrode fabrication and surface chemistry.
- Strong troubleshooting instincts and comfort working through ambiguous, unsolved problems at the bench.
- Comfortable in a small-team environment where you personally execute the work, start to finish.
Nice to Have
- Experience developing sensors for bioprocessing, fermentation, or cell culture environments.
- Experience taking a sensor technology from early prototype through to field deployment.
- Publication record in electrochemical sensing or related fields.
We offer
- Full-time employment
- Competitive base salary and variable compensation package.
- Comprehensive Benefits package
- RRSP match
- A dynamic and engaging work environment
- Career development opportunities
