The Opportunity:

We're looking for a VP, Chief Information Security Officer to join our IT team.

Your role will be required to regularly perform essential duties on behalf of the company from your assigned Aviso office. Your role is considered medium flexibility, requiring you to work onsite 1-3 days per week at our office at 151 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON.

Reporting to the SVP, Chief Information Officer the VP, Chief Information Security Officer is responsible for the Information Security function, encompassing IT and information security & data governance and education, regulatory and operational risk management and partnering with the business on any area where security-driven insights enable business performance. This is a significant role that contributes directly to Aviso's success in a maturing, rigorous, professional and highly collaborative organization. This leader's goals are to balance information security risk and benefit and to support Aviso's oversight of business priorities to achieve results.

What your day looks like:

  • Responsible for the strategic leadership of the company's Information Security program
  • Provide secure solutions & recommendations to our business partners and enabling Aviso to achieve our objectives
  • Serve as the Process Owner of all assurance activities related to the availability, integrity and confidentiality of customer, business partner, employee, and business information in compliance with the Aviso's information security policies
  • Implement modern security counter measures to improve incident response times and to isolate threats
  • Review and align our data governance strategy
  • Ensures that Threat Management operations are consistent with industry best practices and in compliance with local, national, and international regulatory environments (privacy, data protection and environmental, health and safety Continue to develop and lead a comprehensive information security risk-based program to ensure the integrity, confidentiality and availability of assets
  • Update security goals, define security strategies, metrics and Information Security roadmap in support of business goals
  • Partner with business leadership, and other departments to remediate security flaws in infrastructure, system design and application security
  • Define and monitor a risk-based process for vendor management, including the assessment of security risks that may result from partners and service providers
  • Review and improve processes for incident management to effectively identify, respond, contain and communicate a suspect or confirmed incident
  • Ensure execution of business continuity and disaster recovery plans with business teams, IT and Information Security
  • Identify current and emerging cybersecurity threats, trends, vulnerabilities and regulatory changes affecting Aviso
  • Continuously create and manage information security awareness training for employees
  • Implement solutions to assist in detection, prevention and analysis of security threats; perform proof of concepts and vendor comparisons, offer solutions aligned with business and IT requirements
  • Understand and interact with related disciplines through committees to ensure the consistent application of policies and standards across all technology projects, systems and services


Requirements

Your experience and skills:

  • Certified Chief Information Security Officer (CCISO) certification including continuing education requirements on a yearly basis
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent experience
  • 15+ years of progressively responsible leadership and IT or Information Security experience ideally in either Securities or financial services
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute security strategies in a dispersed and matrixed organization on an ongoing basis and in crisis
  • Strong working knowledge of pertinent laws and demonstrate high level of engagement with law enforcement communities and government agencies, including active memberships in security organizations
  • A commitment to fostering a culture of security awareness, accountability, and excellence within the organization
  • Experience with implementing Bill 64 related data governance and records information management programs
  • Deep knowledge of data privacy regulations and compliance issues
  • Deep understanding of current cyber threats, risk mitigations and remediation methods
  • Track record and experience developing information security procedures, and experience securing cloud technologies
  • Experience in cloud security implementation, management, policies, and practices
  • Strategic thinking, effective analysis of data, and the ability to disaggregate business plans into component risks
  • Proven ability to manage and implement projects involving cross-departmental teams
  • Financial analysis and business case development experience is desired
  • Fluent communication skills in English are required and bilingual skills in French are an asset

Salary

This position is posted with an expected salary range of $155,000 - $230,000 CAD annually. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate and the requirements of the position.
