We are looking for a Network Security Engineer to join our Toronto office. This is a full-time hybrid position (at least 2 days in the office).

As a Network Security Engineer, you will be a part of the Network Security team protecting the company's physical and digital assets, including customer-facing services. You will implement, maintain, and monitor network and security infrastructure and provide operational support in responding to security incidents. As a trusted advisor, you will build and support a secure and reliable IT infrastructure that enables Glasshouse Systems to keep pace with business needs.

What You'll Do

You will be Reporting to the Network Security Manager to implement and support a wide variety of network and security technologies, combining deep knowledge of technology infrastructure to support a seamless experience for internal and external customers. This will include participating in the design, deployment, configuration and troubleshooting of Network Security technologies such as NGFW, IPS/IDS, NAC, LAN, WAN, WLAN, Data Center, and Cloud networking technologies within Information Technology.

  • Design, configure and implement network & security solutions for Glasshouse Systems clients.
  • Working with key Support and Technology vendors, define Enterprise Hardware & Software standards for LAN & WAN infrastructure technologies across North America.
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations for client-driven initiatives and strategies
  • Documenting and maintaining network diagrams and configuration changes
  • Assist with sales engineering tasks, including solution designs, bill of materials, statements of work
  • Install, configure, and manage firewalls (Palo alto, Cisco Firepower, Juniper MX)
  • Understand IBM Cloud network capabilities across the board and present/demo them to the client and help them understand how the capabilities solve their network connectivity, security, and other requirements
  • Create and review the documentation of the current Cloud Network Architecture and developing Network solutions to enhance existing services
  • Troubleshoot, isolate and correct service-affecting issues on the network in areas including but not limited to: routing protocols, routers, switches, firewall administration, MPLS, BGP, VPN, load balancing.
  • Plan, schedule, and implement network maintenance activities which include software upgrades, hardware replacement and network infrastructure augments/changes.
  • Hands on knowledge and implementing network security in a hybrid cloud context, Cyber Security and Compliance engagements
  • Experience in building, interconnecting, and supporting networks with one of the cloud providers (preferably IBM) - Regions and Availability Zones. Including working knowledge and hands-on experience of VPC connectivity, Transit Gateway, Direct link/connect methodologies.
  • Incident management during critical events that impact the network, including internal and external communications, team coordination of repair and then root cause analysis efforts.
  • Work with network infrastructure/service providers to identify and correct causes of circuit disruption.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external audiences with varying levels of technical expertise.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • knowledge of Cloud Network Architecture
  • Must have 3+ year experience working in large enterprises implementing hybrid cloud connectivity and enterprise security needs in the network context
  • Experience and knowledge with containers, container networking, and Kubernetes
  • Extensive support of Routing Protocols/Technologies such BGP, OSPF, MPLS VPN, Multicast.
  • Demonstrated experience in LAN/WAN, MPLS, QoS, multicast and core networking discipline, including advance routing protocols like BGP and OSPF
  • Ability to perform TCP/IP Network traces/packet captures with solid experience interpreting results.
  • Ability to analyze packet captures using Wireshark and other related technologies.
  • Minimum 5+ years of working in a Network, with high level experience with Firewall environments, IDS/IPS, NAC Management, SD-WAN, VPN, Firewalls, etc technologies
  • Hands on experience in implementing and support challenging production environment
  • Vendor certifications – CCNA , CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, PCNSA

Other Skills

  • High Availability Technologies: HSRP, VRRP, MLAG, VSS, VPC
  • Scripting Languages: Python
  • Advanced Configuration of Juniper and Cisco devices
  • Strong troubleshooting experience

Preferred Technical And Professional Expertise

  • Ability to recognize and prioritize critical tasks independently
  • Experience applying ITIL best practices is an asset
  • ServiceNow ITSM experience
  • Multi-vendor knowledge including Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper, Fortinet, etc
