The Security Analyst (SA) reports directly to the Manager, IMIT Infrastructure, User and Support Services. As a member of the User and Support Services team, the SA will ensure service standards and user requirements are met. The SA plays a pivotal role in ensuring the security, integrity and confidentiality of sensitive information, technology systems, and digital assets.

What You Will Do:
Application and Technology Functionality:
- Partner with the User and Support Services team to ensure service excellence and to meet the full spectrum of user and system needs.
- Provide subject matter expertise in complex security-related troubleshooting.
- Maintain awareness of the status of technology plans for all FPCC infrastructure, applications, development priorities and technologies.
Security Planning and Implementation:
- Participate in the development of security solutions partnering with the IMIT leadership team, external service providers and subject matter experts.
- Assist the Manager, IMIT Infrastructure, User and Support Services with the implementation and maintenance of security solutions, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, anti-malware and encryption tools to safeguard critical data and systems.
- As assigned, develop and execute incident response plans to address and mitigate security breaches, including analyzing the root cause, containment, eradication and recovery. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to minimize impact and prevent future incidents.
- Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans and penetration tests to identify weaknesses in systems, networks and applications. Provide recommendations for remediation and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Develop and deliver security awareness training programs for staff members, promoting best practices and raising awareness about security risks and mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate and participate in internal and external security audits and assessments, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Implement and manage security information and event management (SIEM) systems to monitor network traffic, detect anomalies and respond to potential security incidents in real time.
Collaboration, Policy Documentation and Reporting
- Collaborate with other subject matter experts to ensure system and application availability. Work with other stakeholders to integrate security measures into the development lifecycle.
- Assist the Director of IMIT with the development of policies, standards and procedures in alignment with industry regulations and organizational goals. Stay informed about emerging security threats and regulations, adjusting policies as necessary.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of security processes, incident reports and response activities. Prepare comprehensive reports for management and stakeholders, summarizing security status, threats and actions taken.
What You Will Bring:
- A degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 3 years’ experience in a complex technical environment.
- CompTIA Security + certification.
- Working towards CISSP certification would be considered an asset.
Skills and Abilities That Will Benefit Your Role:
- Proven expertise in security technologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM and encryption tools.
- Strong understanding of security frameworks, compliance standards and best practices (e.g.NIST, ISO 27001, CIS).
- Experience conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to create clear and effective process documentation.
- Respectful listening skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences, communicate well under pressure and to meet deadlines.
- Advanced technical and problem-solving skills demonstrated initiative, prioritization, interpersonal and customer-centric skills. Commitment to service excellence.
- Demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively within a team and independently, in an effective and organized manner.
- Comfortable working within a fluid, dynamic and fast-paced environment. Committed to continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of the lived experiences of First Nations in B.C. (or willingness to learn) and a commitment to support First Nations arts, language and heritage revitalization in B.C.
Working Conditions
- Most work is done in a general office environment.
- Travel to meetings throughout B.C.
- May be required to work occasional evenings and weekends.
The salary range for this position is $65,489 to $70,111 based on education and qualifications.
