The Department of Families is organized into several divisions that are responsible for a wide range of programs and services that are delivered by the department, or by community-based partner organizations. Within the department, the Privacy Unit branch is looking for a Privacy Analyst.

- Must provide a maintain a satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Post-secondary education in social sciences, politics / political sciences, public administration, or a related field, and related experience. A combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- Experience interpreting and applying acts, regulations and/or policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and oversee privacy related activities, ensuring adherence to legal and departmental requirements in responding to privacy breaches
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to resolve conflicts, build relationships and interact effectively with team members, senior government officials and executive management.
- Strong verbal communication skills to communicate clearly and professionally with a broad range of staff members, clients, and stakeholders.
- Effective written communication skills with the ability to write clear and concise correspondence, policy, process, privacy documents; and emails to various levels of staff members, clients, and stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational and decision making skills, with the ability to independently manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
- Strong political acumen, with the ability to work with sensitive information in a confidential manner.
Desired:
- Knowledge of and experience in a child and family services or other related legislations in our environment.
Duties:
As a member of the department’s Privacy Unit, the Privacy Analyst is responsible for the analysis of privacy related matters within the department. This analysis assesses both government and agencies’ personal information handling practices against the requirements of The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, The Personal Health Information Act and other applicable privacy laws, allowing for the identification and effective management of privacy risks.
