Established in 1999, Becker Keating and Young Technologies (BKY) provides MSP and Software development services throughout Alberta. We are specifically looking for senior IT Technicians in the greater Edmonton area.
We are actively seeking a motivated candidate to excel in the role of Intermediate/Senior IT Technician on a full-time basis. While this position entails expertise as an intermediate network administrator, your success hinges on your ability to foster trust with users. Collaborating extensively with the same user group underscores the need to cultivate relationships, which will serve as the cornerstone of your impact.
Your trajectory within the company will be linked to your self-management skills and aptitude for mastering new technologies. You will be working with team members specializing in SMB networking infrastructure, business continuity, security, backup and recovery, remote monitoring, deskside support, and transformative digital solutions across local and cloud domains.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in effective communication with clients, facilitating a seamless user experience.
- Patient with users that may not have strong technology skills.
- Demonstrated discretion in conveying technical information, tailoring it to the user's comprehension level.
- People-centric mindset, prioritizing user satisfaction above all else.
- Exceptional working knowledge of Microsoft products, encompassing Windows Desktop environments, Office 365, Azure Management.
- Adeptness in navigating mobile devices and their operating systems (iOS and Android).
- Familiarity with web browsers, cookies, caching, and associated security considerations.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networks, encompassing DNS, DHCP, network traffic analysis and Windows network environments.
- Fundamental grasp of network-connected printers and devices.
- Possession of post-secondary education in Information Technology.
- Over 5 years of experience in IT customer service roles.
- Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
Responsibilities:
- Offer end-users comprehensive technical support and guidance.
- Efficiently record and process pertinent information during initial contact.
- Proven track record with hardware installation and troubleshooting.
- Redirect issues to appropriate support teams (Software or Infrastructure) when necessary.
- Resolve video conferencing calls/event challenges (i.e., Teams, Zoom, etc.)
- Regularly monitor and update the ticketing system and our client service team.
- Proficiency of network configuration aspects, including DHCP & DNS.
- Expertise in configuring, maintaining, and testing server backup solutions.
- Develop, refine, and apply troubleshooting procedures for common issues as well as document in our knowledgebase.
- Eliminate any user uncertainty regarding problem resolution.
- Engage in a rotational on-call schedule, necessitating after-hours onsite support for scheduled events.
